Mysterious Skin is a VERY powerful film, it’s about two young men who went through a very traumatic experience when they were eight. Joseph Gordon Levitt’s character was in ways harden by this experience and grew up to be a hustler, the other boy suffered blackouts, nosebleeds, and repressed the memory. Suffice to say they grew up troubled and messed up, one sells sex and the other is convinced he was abducted by UFO’s.

The acting was great, and the story a very powerful one. It was disturbing in very effective ways... I think it succeeds in that some of these characters aren’t the nicest people either, but you care all the same what happens to them. You are exposed to them on a very personal level. Excellent all around.
