The visuals were pretty good, but the story line was lame.

Amazing movie in the sense of visuals. The dark tones mixed with crisp animation make this a film worth seeing. Certainly not a movie for younger audiences. There are alot of corpses in various stages of decompasition and robots built out of human body parts.

Despite popular beleive this was not a Tim Buton movie. Althought he was signed on as a producer. The actual direcer was Shane Acker As stated above.

Were the voice acting horrible, the plot dull and the ending predictable I still would have given this 5 stars for its incredible artistic achievement. The style? Take one part Brothers Quay, one part Tool's classic animated music videos, one part Little Big Planet on it's most bizarre levels and one part Fallout 3. The first few moments of this film are mesmerizing simply in their detail and even after how incredibly rich in visible texture and depth this "animated" flick is has sunk in you are still often rendered speechless by moments of incredible realism. This definitely has airs of Tim Burton's classic pseudo-victorian flair but it was considerably bleaker in story line and more life-like in its stylizations than his other animated endeavors (which are very cartoony and cutesy despite their goth overtones). That said, the voice acting is well done, the plot imaginative and the ending not at all what I expected part way in. I wouldn't consider this a film for a kid under 12. It's very dark in theme and content and has some seriously disturbing graphics (including more than a glimpe of a dead mother and child in a car and several long scenes of a decayed dead body clearly displayed next to the main character).
