I'm Maja (pronounced Maya), I'm 22 years old, and I'm a huge psy head. I've never had any
other type of music pull me in and affect me quite like psychedelic trance...I really feel
it speaks the language of my soul. It's a major part of who I am and it keeps me alive and
going. The psy culture has completely changed my perspective on life and has transformed
me completely. Understand it or not, that's me
However, I have a deep passion for all electronic music...from jungle to progressive house
and everything in between. I can never get enough of those raw, filthy, grimy basslines
that make everything in the room shake...there's nothing better. And I don't know what
does it better but dubstep...and I'm completely addicted to it, the grimier the better.
I'm also addicted to anything progressive...progressive house, progressive breaks,
progressive psy - it's all delicious! There's just something in progressive that draws me
in. Oh, and Indian and Middle Eastern music is my guilty pleasure...sitars are the sexiest
instruments ever!
I graduated from the School of Audio Engineering in New York City in July of 2005, but I
haven't been too lucky with getting a job and I'm not sure if I even want to work in the
audio industry anymore, besides DJing of course
Yep, I'm a DJ, and I spin both vinyl and CD's. I mostly spin psy trance, progressive, and
downtempo / chillout, but I also have a variety of records ranging from hardcore to house
to jungle that I'm known to pull out and play from time to time.
I started going to "raves" in 2000 and I went to my first party in New York in
2001. I used to go to parties in New York City all the time so some of you have probably
already met me at some point. I don't go to parties as much as I used to, but I am heavily
involved in the psy culture, and more recently, in the breaks and dubstep scenes. In
general, I'm more drawn to smaller 21+ events nowadays, but that doesn't mean I don't go
out to crazy, all-night bangers from time to time...but above all, I love outdoor events
of any kind!
I really like meeting new, interesting people, but I'm really shy at first...at least
until I get to know someone better and feel comfortable around them. Although I can be
really extroverted at times, for the most part, I'm an introvert. I have a hard time
talking to people, especially when I'm forced to. I am a person that needs a lot of
"alone" time, but when it's time to party, I do it like it's my job.
I'm very open-minded and I love having deep, intelligent conversations with people about
random topics...I love being mentally stimulated and learning all sorts of different
things from others. I consider myself quite the spiritual being who ultimately seeks out
enlightenment and a better understanding of the universe and this thing we call reality.
I incorporate many New Age beliefs into my life and I am very interested in Neo-Pagan,
Eastern, and ancient religions. I don't follow a specific religion, but I do believe in a
higher power, the universal life force, which runs through us all. I believe in alternate
realities that are happening simultaneously and in different layers of consciousness that
we can travel in and out of. I'm open to all religions since I feel they are all separate
paths leading to the same destination, which is enlightenment...that is, if you can get
past all the manipulating tricks of organized religion
Oh yea...and I love nature. Being outdoors, especially walking through forests, gives me
serenity. I love hiking up to scenic points, where I can relax, reflect, and observe the
world around me. When I'm sad or lonely, or just have too much stuff on my mind, I look to
the sky for solace. The night sky comforts me and helps me forget all my worries down here
on Earth. It makes me realize that in the vastness of all that is, human pain and worry is
insignificant. I truly believe that my soul comes from deep within the cosmos and I'm
planning on returning there again when the time is right.
And yes, just like everyone else out there, I have my fair share of issues, but I feel
that makes me all the more interesting. So yea, that's me...I wrote more about myself on
here than pretty much anyone I know, but I'm a very expressive person and I like when
people know what I'm all about, right from the start. It's better to be hated for who you
are, than be loved for who you are not...
