Bio:

Well it all started way back in the days of school and no worries when I met a group of
Kandy Kids at school. Such a happy group of people who took me in a befriended me but that
wasn’t the start of my Djing adventure

Threw House parties, After-hours, Raves and so many sleepless nights later bring us up 2
xmas 2003 when I got into the djing business

And 4 years later, threw a lot of people and music I have come to were I am now.its been
an interesting journey just getting were I am today and there have been a lot of friends
and influences in my journey, today I am going to tell you about it.

Since the beginning there have been influences, djs here in Edmonton who have inspired me
to get were I am today some of there names are, Dj's, Tripswitch, Saki and Spankie, Sure
Shock, Dreadnaught and Sweetz, and actually if it weren’t for Sweetz I probably would have
never started with breaks.she is the one who I aspired to Dj like

It was in the Xmas of 2003 my roommate and coworker Steve D and I both got turntables and
started together

He bought 2 Numark tt200's a Numark mixer and I bought Dj in a box, shhhh everyone has to
start somewhere, he had more money than I had. But after a bad relationship with a
controlling gf he lost interest and sold me all his gear.if it weren’t for him I don’t
think I would have come as far in djing as I have.

Shortly after selling all his stuff I got right into it, coming home from work everyday,
practicing trying to beat match, with was slowly starting to frustrate me and think that I
should just sell my tables and give up, thinking this is not for me.

A few days later I got a hold of another friend named Steve (DJ Steve Velocity) and he
came over and taught me the basics of spinning. It was him who gave me the skills needed
to learn and teach myself from there, if it wasnt for him i would have never gotten were i
am today, i still look up to him alot and his skillz as a dj/Producer

One dark night I went to Decadence were I met Mystique (Dj MzTekK), very interesting girl,
a monumental point in my Dj life. We talked about djing and music and we hung out a few
times spinning and talking about tricks and hints to beat matching and mixing.

About a month after the first meet she called me and told me how her bf moved out and
needed a room mate, I thought "I need to get out on my own " so I moved in with
her for about 3-4 months. I swear the only time I wasn’t spinning in that house was if I
was sleeping or at work.

We spun so much I new every little beep sound skip and scratch in almost 100 pieces of
vinyl. It was living with her were got honed most of my skills by getting the time on the
decks wile living with her in a house were we didn’t have to worry about turning the music
down. Also her bf at the time was Atom (Dj Atomatik) he was another person who helped in
the progression of my Dj skills. He was the one who helped me learn how to spin DNB /
jungle and gave me a better taste for the faster darker tunes!

Around the 3-4 month mark I decided I was going to move out for personal reason I do not
with to bring up anymore

Once I was back at home my sister was amazed at how much I had progressed since when I
first bought my tables and she decided she was going to have a party.

I was stunned at the turn out, like 20-30 people were in the basement. I spun an all right
set but was very nervous and fucked up a few times but no one noticed, to drunk I guess.
Haha

But there was points in the night were everyone was dancing, it was such a good feeling, I
was hooked and I wanted more.

After that I really started recording everything I spun in hopes I would have a good set
that I could hand out to people and get my name out there

Then came kai (Dj/Producer Mr.Kai), He really opened my eyes and ears when it came to
music over the party years I became very jaded towards a lot of music, but he opened my
eyes and showed me how much potential almost every song has to be good and how there is so
much more behind every song and that you really got to listen.we had some really good
times spinning his HHC record, it was him how got my love for HHC back, we ever produced a
few tracks together

If it weren’t for him I would not be on this conquest to become a good Dj and producer,
taught me to hone my skills, practice the basics even thou they seem trivial the better
you get, and always keep your ears open

After a lot of time on the decks and hard work getting good sets recorded I started
talking to Mindy (Dj Sweetz) in and sent her my demo and in the summer of 2005 she gave me
my first opportunity to spin at backroom vodka bar, what a great feeling that was finally
after all my hard work and persistence I am going to get my chance and get that feeling
again that I had at my sister party.

I told everyone about it and told everyone whom I knew to come. When I got there the place
was empty and I thought great, this is what I was worried about. That I will play. No one
will hear except for whom all came with Kai, Asian jen and me. Well as 9pm was only 10 min
away about 7 of my friends showed up, I was so happy, that was all I wanted, then as I
started to play more of my friends showed up and more, by the time near 10 hit there was
30 people I guesstamate that I knew were there

Then Sweetz came up to me and asked if I wanted to keep playing till 11 witch was nerve
racking because I had practiced my hour long set for 2 weeks so hopefully I wouldn’t fuck
up, well I think she new that so now was the real test. Playing more of my records that I
didn’t practice with, I said sure and got worried, so Kai went and got me a drink and
would you know it, everything went off without a hitch. It was a good first time, and a
very interesting experience leaving the Dj booth and almost falling flat on my face
because Kai kept my drink full the whole time, so I thought I was still on my first when I
was really on my 6 or 7 double rum and coke.

Then near the end of summer 2005 I met Vin (Dj Vinny Vo) we talked about parties and such
and he told me he was going to start throwing parties and o give him a demo of mine and if
I was good enough I would be playing at some of them. My computer was down so I forced to
give him an old set

Well he liked it and from there I played at a few of his parties like, Sushi Crew
Underground, Electrified, Heartbreaker. Sadly thou it was only electrified that gave me
that feeling once more, the other 2 parties I spun at I was opener Dj. It was Vin who used
his Outgoing fun-loving personality to get me more of the exposure I needed to get my name
out there.

Then in summer of 2006 I was approached by the guy Copper and Cory, they were starting
there own production company and are going to be throwing parties, they said they had seen
me at some of Vinny's events and wanted me to spin at there next party

N-EMO-Beats

This party was the most monumental party of my Djing Adventure, I was told I was to play
in the slot from 12-1 so I new there would be a few people out there so I want to make
this set good. But I was kind of sick of my style I was with, it seemed everyone was
becoming a breaks and I was a dog eat dog world to get the breaks slot at a party so I
decided I need a new edge.

As I was reading up about Djing and famous djs I had herd this little thing about
Freestyle djs, mostly in the rap scene who use beat juggling and samples to make there own
music, well that was too herd for me to even come up with something tangible for a party
in September of that year, only 4 months away

So I decided I was going to do my own take on it, I was going to spin almost every genre
in a one-hour set

Or at least as many genres that would actually flow together. And so I started my work and
after a few weeks I came up with a template and some of the tracks I was going to put in

Intro, Electro, House, Breaks, Dnb, Breaks, End

Well I decided to take the house out of it because all the house I had at the time didn’t
blend well with my other stuff

Form there I worked on it and worked on it and worked on it far away from ears as I
could.

Then the day of the party came

It was an awesome venue, an indoor skate park, and Kandy kids running amok everywhere;
this gave me hope, thinking "Kandy kids are happy so I know at least they will like
my funky beats

11pm hit and Vinny Vo went up, he was playing an awesome set and people were going crazy,
I was quiet enjoying his set when it hit me like someone had drop kicked he. He is playing
some amazing tracks, everyone loves Vinny vo, how the fuck am I supposed to fallow up his
set, everyone is going to be disappointed and the dance floor will clear!!!!!

I felt weak, nervous and nauseous, I turned to Gavin and screamed really loud, good thing
we were in a rave because no one other than Gavin herd me because of the loudness. Heh. He
asked what was wrong and I told him, he reassured and says "Don’t worry, you know me
and jen and crystal will still be dancing and screaming for you no matter what" That
really helped a lot and it went away for a bit

As 10 min to 12 came I got drop kicked again by that feeling, but I sucked it up, hugged
and kissed jen, they all wished me luck and I stared my way over to the Dj booth. I felt
like was shaking and I had a cold sweat, I pulled my record over to the Dj booth and Vinny
moved his cds off the one table so I could put the first record on. Then he tells me to
wait he wants to play one more track...

The music slows down to a stop

The crowd screams, cameras in the sea of people there to see Vin. He yells out that he
made a new track and is going to play it for everyone and wants a cheer at the end and
what they thought

It plays

And now im thinking omg omg omg omg omg omg omg, please let the song be an alright one so
I don’t look to bad

Nope it was amazing; he turns to me and tells me to get ready. I thought I was mixing out
of his track so I start beat matching, His track starts to slow down and he tells me to
wait a sec.

"SO HOW DID EVERYONE LIKE IT???!!!"

*Insert loud screaming*

Me = *gulp*

"ALRIGHT EVERYONE GIVE IT UP FOR MY BUD DJ TERMINAL!!!!!!"

*Insert Insanely loud screaming with "Ya terminal, go terminal" mixed in*

That feeling hits me more intensely

I start my first track, 2001 space odyssey theme song, now if you haven’t herd this track,
go listen, everyone knows this track, now just think as this intro is building more and
more people are cramming to the dance floor in anticipation to hear what was going to come
after this intro track. Just buy the sounds of it it has to be good right?

My knees start to buckle I feel like im going to throw up

I wait for my cue and start the other record...slowly brining the volume up, and at that
moment I new when I could start to hear the other record I new it was going to be perfect,
the speed was right, the timing was right.

HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!

The first bass hit of the second record "this is were the parties at" hit and
the crowd when fucking Insane!
It was the most amazing feeling of my life; it was better than the first feeling I got at
my sister party

Almost 500 people going insane dancing and singing to the lyrics, all there singing and
dancing to me I almost cried I was so happy and from there my confidence took over for the
rest of the set and everything was fine, even when I breaker blew and the music stopped,
people were still waiting when the lights came on. Then send off was even impressive after
my set I had tones of people coming up to me shaking my hand and giving me hugs telling me
how amazing of a set it was.

It been a wile since that party and I still hear good things about my set, but most of all
that one moment

That moment was still by far the most amazing moment of my life ill never forget it

Imp still spinning today and playing out were ever I can, just waiting till I can get that
moment again, that one perfect moment, don’t really know were ill be in 10 year don’t even
care if I make it or not

But the journey there is fucking AWSOME!
