Monophonic (A.K.A Kevin Saunders)
Was born in Hamilton, Ont, Canada, on October 16th 1977. Even in the womb it was about
music, kickin’ to his mother's music, as she played out Hamilton's disco scene. At 8
years old he spent many an hour hanging around his uncle's jazz/funk band while they
practiced in his Grandmother's basement. Playing drums between sets and manning the
multi-track, his love of music was ignited. At the age of 17 he started behind the decks
in 1994. At the height of House music in the mid nineties he landed his first gig at Club
Marazzi. This led him on to play out in various Hamilton hot spots such as Monopoly's
vault, & Sound Factory. The summer of 1998 he entered into energy 108’s summer rush DJ
contest, placing second to an underground techno DJ. This got him exploring some of the
more underground, urban electronic beats, and moved him away from the main stream.
In the winter of 2000 he slowly backed out of the scene because of personal reasons,
vowing to never give up entirely.

Summer 2004 the fire inside for music had burned quietly for far too long. He picked up
some decks and decided to take a more serious approach to the DJ craft. Having to move to
Toronto for work, this seemed like the perfect time and place to start back up.

This is where Monophonic met Cynex. Two people’s dreams of playing music for the masses
fit together like PB n J. Monophonic and Cynex formed a DJ VS act, now well known as
DuoTone. Part old school, part new, the two intrepid DJs made waves from Niagara to
Toronto picking up resident spots with the Double Decker promotion company.

Not happy at the decline of the underground music scene these two formed their own
production company now known as BassTeasers. BassTeasers at not even a year old have made
their name synonymous with quality events. Not is it just about the music, it is about
the atmosphere, environment, and more specifically the people that make the events what
they are. Watch for the BassTeasers logo, it is a logo that means quality in anything
attached to it.

Monophonic has since gone back to his old school roots playing solo gigs under the
influence of his house, electro, and breaks. Always high energy, always forcing you to
move your feet, you never know what he'll throw down next.

What is in store for the future? Monophonic will still be working with Cynex and new
BassTeaser addition Andy Holtz to provide quality and entertaining excuses to get on the
dance floor and let loose. Monophonic can be heard every blue moon at

Andy Holtz, Monophonic, & Fresh Slice (Monophonic & Andy Holtz) on a regular basis. You
