Bio:
Emergency Medical Responder - @ Raves and sporting events....

It’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice... :-)

What's your name - What have you had - Reach for the lasers - Safe as fuck....

Emergency Medical Responders angel “Where do you need us?”

Who we are:
We are a non profit volunteer group that formed several years ago to fill a need for
skilled, reliable and inexpensive medical first responders. Our goal is to provide the
highest quality affordable service to events, promoters, venues and their customers. Once
we take on an event, we never cancel on you later and we aren’t restricted by territories
that would hinder a smooth service. We also won’t send you under-qualified personnel
because “there wasn’t anyone else available.” We deliver the professional service we
promised you, every time.

How we are funded:
The combination of our basic expenses, certifications, and costs of the modern equipment
we use are what we have to cover. Our time however, is essentially at no charge. The fee
we ask for varies depending on the event. We do not charge what larger organisations do
for this level of coverage. We enjoy doing this and need the bare minimum we ask for to
continue our work. Additional funding or equipment sponsorship is always welcome! 

Our training:
All of our members are certified to a minimum of “E.M.R. Level 1” or its equivalent. This
meets the Paramedic Association of Canada guidelines for “Emergency Medical Responder”.
Some of our members are currently serving Paramedics working in the GTA. What’s the
difference? Paramedics give certain medications we don’t, train for longer and are
overseen by a Physician. As volunteer E.M.R.s we use many but not all of the same skills.
To be effective, training must be a constant and on-going process. We train for all kinds
of incidents including sports & spinal injuries, alcohol/drug emergencies, heart attacks
and vehicle accidents. Our members have already dealt with most, if not all of these
types of emergencies at some point and bring that experience with them.

Patient transport:
If it becomes necessary to send a person to the hospital, we aim to create a smooth
hand-over to the local ambulance service taking them. This is done by stabilising and
packaging the patient as far as possible using our skills and equipment, then providing
our assessment findings and treatment results to the arriving paramedics. Note: Only the
local ambulance service can transport Emergency Patients (those not yet assessed by a
doctor as “medically stable”) to the hospital.

Our Equipment:
We use only the latest first responder equipment and assessment devices, including:
Biphasic semi-automated defibrillators, portable oxygen kits, bag-valve-mask manual
ventilation systems, oral and nasal airways, V-vac suction, pulse-oximeters, W.A. BP
cuffs, C-spine collars and boards, full function folding stretchers, tactical stretchers,
quick fastening wrist, arm and leg splints and more. All such equipment is to be found in
an ambulance and some fire trucks. The difference is that we’re already there! That can
mean a 6 to 20 minute head-start for treatment, even in the city. For a seriously ill or
injured casualty, every minute counts.
