Bio:
my name is Michael Collins, a.k.a DJ Fury-S. i was born in Dunnville, Ontario, Canada.
i lived in Cheltenham, U.K. briefly as a child, before coming back with my family to
Canada.

i was introduced to music at a very early age, around 10 years old. i took piano lessons
with the Royal Conservatory of Music in Ontario. this paid off for me in 1992 when i
joined a band in Vancouver, B.C. called External Affairs, where i held it down playing
keyoards (2 Roland Juno's and a D-20). our biggest influences at that time were Depeche
Mode and Duran Duran. after playing countless shows around the Lower Mainland in B.C. i
decided to break off and do my own thing - dj'ing.

i started just by playing for house and private parties, and soon was filling in at some
bars and clubs, albeit only once in a while.

around the time i moved back to Ontario (1999), i was heavily into hard trance and hard
house, with a bit of breaks thrown in for good measure. and i have to credit my brother
Geoff (G MC) for introducing me to jungle/drum & bass @ WEMF 2000, which happened to be
held in my hometown of Dunnville, Ontario.

it was there that i saw my first jungle set by none other than the one like Mickey Finn,
followed by a top-notch local dj - DJ Sniper. the sets blew me away and i was instantly
hooked. big up my man Ryan Ruckus of Empire Prod. / Hustlin' Beats for throwing a propa
jam for my second d&b party (the name escapes me right now). the third and final party
that did it for me was Boxing Day - 2000 - Bad Company @ the Docks Entertainment Complex.
that night put me over the edge and set the stage for who and what i've become today.

while this whirlwind of d&b was invading my senses, i was dj'ing a retro night in
Georgetown, Ontario. at midnight on each night i played, i would set off with the
electronic beats - first some hard trance, then blend into breaks and d&b.

after Boxing Day 2000, though, it was nothing but drum & bass for me. i' ve probably
invested about $5,000 into my vinyl since then and have built up a wide variety of
jungle/d&b, from the old school classics to modern day techstep, and everything in
between.

i am fortunate enough to have a wikkidly talented brother who has been holding it down on
the mic's of some of Toronto's biggest parties in some of the best venues. my brother, G
MC, has been an inspiration to me as well as my best critic! i try to have him MC for me
whenever i can, and we never disappoint the crowd!

through my brother i was able to join the roster of Soundbwoy Entertainment (Sean C &
Enemee Emcee) out of Hamilton, Ontario. i quickly became a regular fixture @ Fever
NiteClub opening for such acts as Ryan Ruckus (Toronto, Hustlin' Beats), and Perfect
Combination (U.K., Hospital). as well, i was a rotating guest DJ with Devin Bass at
McMaster University FM Radio (CFUM 93.3), and with continued connections i was able to
affiliate myself with FunkState Productions out of Peterborough, Ontario and have the
honour of being their first drum & bass dj on their roster.

my brother and i also had the pleasure of performing at a club in Ft. Lauderdale (E-Bar),
while we were down there for a cruise vacation. a night i'll not forget!

in 2004, i moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada and continued my DJ quest when i got
there, playing a show titled "Record Playaz" in my second week. this was
followed by a rotating residency at the Starlight Lounge up until they closed on New Years
2004 / 2005. it was on this night that i threw their last party, a New Years bash that
rammed the place until all hours!

while holding down a residency @ Starlight Lounge, i was entered into a DJ competition at
the Studio 54 Club, and went on to take 1st Place, with prize money and a residency.

I also held my own radio show at the Lethbridge University FM Radio (CKXU 88.3) for a full
year, building up a fanbase in Southern Alberta until my departure from there in June,
2005.

Since returning to Ontario this summer, i have met up with an old friend, DJ Itch from
Platform Productions (Brampton, Ontario), and have played several parties with the
Platform crew, including one wikkid night @ The Place. big up to Lugah, Filthy, Itch,
and all the crew for keeping it real in B-Town!!

and now i am starting the producer stage with several ideas about to be worked over
'longside my good friend and fellow dj, D Double J. with one pressing under his belt
right now ("Evil Dead" - with samples taken from the movie), and several others
about to be canned, it won't be long before you will see some of our tracks hit some
shelves. keep an eye out!

and also keep an eye out for info on the 5th Annual "Lakecyde Sessions" party
put on by my brother and i each and every summer on the shores of Lake Erie. coming
July, 2007.

I am also the guy behind Shadow Productions. This is a new company and venture for me,
and i hope things continue to go well for me in 2007!

and so the journey continues...
