I thought it was good, im not the biggest Leo fan but he did well in the movie. I think its important for movies like this to be made, Inform the public of issues they may other wise not be introduced to. The part when the little boy is being shot up by a rebel leader kills me...that shit is so sad.

Cheep attempt to be relevant my ass. It may be a Hollywood film, but at least it's an effort to inform the general public about the shit things going on in the world that you dont see in your every day lives.

this movie sucks. cheap attempt to try to be relevant, when this shit is how many decades old. way to stay current Hollywood. did anyone realize the contradiction in the movie? halfway through they say that when the diamonds are shipped out of Liberia they are sent to India to be sorted and cut and by the time they get on the assembly line you can't tell the difference between a blood diamond and a regular one. so why then at the end did they say make an educated choice and don't choose conflict diamonds when they just told us there is no way in knowing which is which. that and the movie should have ended when Decaprio died on the hill the extra 10 minutes of the big bad guy being set up is total rubbish. why would the bad guy who is a multi billionaire show up to do a highly illegal transaction in person?

Crazy. Although Lionardo's fake accents make me cringe the whole way through, it was a drastically good movie. Constantly in want to fight for the characters.

Loved everything about the movie. Good script, good acting, it grabbed your attention, there weren't really any parts that bored me.

i was more impressed with this movie than i thought i'd be. i'm not usually a fan of decaprio, but he was awesome in the movie. the way everything just went down hill so fast and the endless climb all the way thru the movie to bring the shattered peices of a family back together was touching. it really brings to light the problems existing in the diamond trade today as we know it.

TIA. It's really sad that this is actually happening and no one is doing anything to stop it. There are children as young as eight carrying guns and shooting people when they should be in school and learning or playing with their friends.
There aren't many movies that are blockbusters that actual tackle any truth and actually give you insight on issues that you would normally not have any idea about. This movie is just purely sensational. Leo's South African accent was perfect. Even his tan was done perfectly to a tee.
Djimon Hounsou did an amazing job portraying his character of Solomon. You really feel for him and his family.
I'm going to agree with RPG and say again that this movie will definately make you think twice about buying diamonds.

REALLY awesome movie about the diamond trade and the sad realities surrounding that brutal busimess...Leo did a VERY good job on the character and the accent was spot on...
I bought the DVD with the 2nd dvd full of special features...there's an hour documentary about how these people dig ALL their lives for a few diamonds right up to where they end up like in NEW YORK city....its truly pathetic and It will make you think twice about buying diamonds in ANY form

I thought it gave people a greater look at maybe how people live in Africa, it made me realize things i hadn't even known about Africa and the smuggling of blood diamonds. Definately a good movie

It's a solid movie.
The down sides to it were few. The characters were pretty stock - the worldly white hero, the noble savage, the pretty, idealistic woman. Because of that combination of characters, the interpersonal plot was pretty predictable. Man and woman come from different worlds, sparks fly... they go through tough times together, grow closer, let their guard down... shows that people can overcome their differences and all that... and it also provides balance for the horriffic scenes going on around them. My only other critique is that it wraps up in too tidy of a package. A lot of movies lately have been dragging on, tying up loose ends so we can feel good about it afterwards. That leaves no room for discussion or imagination on what happens afterwards. I would have ended it with Leo dying on the mountainside...
Regardless, this was still an excellent movie. It's not a new story to a lot of politically/socially conscious people, but it's a story that needed to be told. The diamond industry is as disgusting of a cartel as the oil, shipping, or drug business. This movie has made much of the world viscerally aware of the way the diamond industry works, which does far more than any news or television coverage.
Four stars!

Pretty crazy / intense movie.
It's sad the lives that are destroyed because of the world's greed and love of money, and it sure makes me appreciate what i got.

I thought it was really good.
The acting, the plot, and the issues were all formatted perfectly.
As a viewer, I got a very clear picture of the theme of corruption they were trying to get across. I could actually feel the pain, the dishonor.
One little thing... what was up with the end theme? It didn't fit the movie at all.. haha.

Awesome movie.
As a mother, and as a pacifist, watching the scenes with the young boys being torn from their mothers' arms, and then being taught to kill - just left me feeling like I'd been physically assaulted.
And Leo's accent was nearly spot on through the whole movie - I know a man from the same region, and Leo did a great job with the accent. I am not a fan of his acting, but by the time the movie was maybe half through, I had sort of forgotten that it was even him.
Djimon Hounsou is a wonderful, intense actor. I think he was by far the shining star in this one. Jennifer Connely (like someone already mentioned) was just the pretty face. I think there could have been a better actress for that part.

I hate leonardo with a passion, but I could live with him in this movie. It was very enjoyable in a very uncomfortable way. Finally there are movies coming out focused on the african struggle that are acurate.

Thefilm deserves it's oscar nominations, the acting is great and the story is intricate - though I have to say in hindsight, really projected it's social conscience and had a somewhat hollywood ending slapped onto it. Despite its gritty setting, the production values are clear, and I even started to buy Leo DiCaprio's accent after a while, Jennifer Connelly was too much eye candy & reeked of "supporting character". Still highly recommended though.

This movie was amazing.
To all of you quoting that Leo had a bad accent, have you even heard a real south african talk, because I have and they sound like that.
The cinematography blew me away, though being in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, it wouldn't be hard to make every shot look exotic and tempting.
Tho, why did he have to die? i know, the ending sucked, can't Leo just not die for once?
oh well, i guess he didn't write the script then...
still a stellar movie that will make people start thinking about undeveloped countries and the hardships we make them endure every second so that we can have a more rich and dazzling life.

incredible movie, although whats-her-face over acted in some parts. also the length of the movie hurt it a bit. overall though i thoroughly enjoyed it!

A must own if I may say.. I enjoyed blood diamond very much. The acting was incredible (if you have every heard a zimbabwe accent you will appreciate the job leo did). Both of the leads did fantastic jobs and brought a lot of intensity to the movie. I will admit that probably 20min of the movie could have been cut but any more than that and you would lose to much of the scenes that show just how beautiful africa really is

the movie was pretty good, the only thing that it lacked was the lead actor to have actual talent in changing their accent.... shows the truth about the world for sure! go see that movie, and then ask urself, do u want diamonds that bad???

not a bad movie- Leonadro Dicaprio's accent was really REALLY bad. There were even bits of the movie where it seemed like
he was too lazy to use his bad accent, so he just talked normally... did they hope we wouldnt notice?
BUT i think the movie served its purpose... and got the story about what actually has to happen to bring diamonds here.
pretty disturbing.

this movie was fuckin sick .. like i mean im among those of you who dont like leonardo decaprio and his certain style of acting .. but to keep up that accent through the whole movie is quite a feat... and the story was incredible as well.. really makes you think about the shit your buyin at the malls n what not.. good movie.. it rocked my sox

A good movie-slightly long, however. It was very intense-action, drama, grafic at times. rnrnLeo DiCaprio might not have been the perfect actor for this part, but he was still good. Jennifer Connelly & Djimon Hounsou also did a good job.
