I had to watch this movie for my World Issues class..

I found it hard to concentrate after a while from soooo much statistics and facts, but I kept myself awake and tried my best to pay attention.

I already had quite a background on global warming and climate change. I still found this movie to be a rude awakening.

I dont know why so many people are calling this movie bullshit and telling everyone not to believe everything they hear.

This movie won Al Gore the Nobel Peace Price did it not? Would that award be given based upon a movie made up of bullshit?

I believe that anyone in denial of this issue is ignorant or too fucking lazy to recycle, ride a bike once in a while, change your lightbulbs to hydrogen, turn the lights off when you leave a room, not crank your a/c or heating

I have been practicing environmental friendly choices since I was a kid.
Honestly it takes so little effort to make these conscience decisions. If everyone could just practice these there would be such a positive impact....
*sigh*

Boring as hell, blatantly over-stated, doesn't really make me long for another Al Gore presidential victory... at least he's not George Bush, I guess.

okay.... i will tell you something....

who else has tried this hard to fix the mistakes of the careless industries?

Bam. there you go. a huge effort pulls in for Mr. Gore and you all sit there and be like.... Wha?

We are one species of animal out of Billions on this planet. that's a fact.

and we call ourselves smart!

what is smart?

Is it smart to use technology to save people from nature because nature is obviously the Devil?

Yeah, right?

and that Devilish nature can handle anything we got cus it's been dominating the world long before humans even existed.

Right?

so like, we gotta like, bomb nature and shit right?

WRONG!!!!!!!

bomb each other?

NO!!!!!!!

so uh.... what do we do?

we make things right.

huh?

you heard me. we make things right. right here and now. we fix it.

us? together?

yes.... all of us.... from every corner of every town and city in the world....

We will make things right. We know how.

I quite liked it. I enjoy movies that have that much information in them. I don't really care why Gore is doing this. It's good that he is.

Last time I checked, proper grammar was important when criticizing someone else's spelling error. OOPS!

It was a good documentary.

So who taught you to spell? really... last time I checked it was "Inconvenient"...
perhaps that's why you got brainwashed by all the bullshit Gore put in that documentary.
listen man, our problem as a society is mostly social, if we fix that then we fix everything else in the process. But i won't even get into that because it'll take about 30 pages.
Just don't believe everything you hear.

"I've often heard it said that there's a consensus of thousands of scientists on the global warming issue and that humans are causing a catastrophic change to the climate system. Well I am one scientist, and there are many that simply think that is not true."

"In Europe, Henk Tennekes was dismissed as research director of the Royal Dutch Meteorological Society after questioning the scientific underpinnings of global warming. Aksel Winn-Nielsen, former director of the U.N.'s World Meteorological Organization, was tarred by Bert Bolin, first head of the IPCC, as a tool of the coal industry for questioning climate alarmism. Respected Italian professors Alfonso Sutera and Antonio Speranza disappeared from the debate in 1991, apparently losing climate-research funding for raising questions."

Atmospheric Physicist
Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Prof. Lindzen is a recipient of the AMS's Meisinger, and Charney Awards, and AGU's Macelwane Medal. He is a corresponding member of the NAS Committee on Human Rights, a member of the NRC Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate, and a Fellow of the AAAS1. He is a consultant to the Global Modeling and Simulation Group at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, and a Distinguished Visiting Scientist at California Institute of Technology's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. (Ph.D., '64, S.M., '61, A.B., '60, Harvard University)

In an interview in the BBC documentary 'The Great Global Warming Swindle' Prof. Lindzen said that the theory of man-made global warming is "pure propaganda".

"Global mean temperature is about 0.6 degrees Celsius higher than it was a century ago."

Richard Siegmund Lindzen, Ph.D.
Atmospheric Physicist

Prof. Lindzen's position with regard to the IPCC can be summed up with this quotation:

"Picking holes in the IPCC is crucial. The notion that if you’re ignorant of something and somebody comes up with a wrong answer, and you have to accept that because you don&8217;t have another wrong answer to offer is like faith healing, it's like quackery. If somebody says you should take jelly beans for cancer and you say that's stupid, and he says, well can you suggest something else and you say, no, does that mean you have to go with jelly beans?"

"There is no consensus, unanimous or otherwise, about long-term climate trends and what causes them and I cannot stress this enough - we are not in a position to confidently attribute past climate change to carbon dioxide or to forecast what the climate will be in the future. That is to say, contrary to media impressions, agreement with the three basic statements tells us almost nothing relevant to policy discussions."

"Solar activity may in the long term affect the Earth's climate. Solar ultra-violet, visible and heat radiation are the primary factors for the Earth's climate, including the global average temperatures, and these energy sources appear to be quite constant on time scales of tens or a few hundreds of years. However, many scientists have observed correlations between the solar magnetic activity, which is reflected in the sunspot frequency, and climate parameters at the Earth. Sun spots have been recorded through several hundreds of years which makes it possible to compare their variable frequency to climate variations to the extent that reliable climatological records exists. We compared the average temperature at the northern hemisphere with the average solar activity defined through the interval between successive sunspot maxima. The more active the sun - the shorter the interval: the solar cycle runs more intense."

"In the following testimony I will first describe how a carefully reconstructed time series of temperatures in the Central Valley of California indicate that changes since 1910 are more consistent with the impacts of land-use changes than the effects currently expected from the enhanced greenhouse theory."

"We are nearing the end of an extensive study of surface temperatures in East Africa, a place I had lived and monitored the weather in the mid-1970s. Our preliminary results are similar to those from Central California in that daytime temperatures are not changing at all, while night time temperatures appear to be rising. This particular area is of great interest because two of Africa's ice-capped mountains, Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Kenya, reside in this region. There is clearly no doubt that these East African ice fields are shrinking. However if general warming is the reason, it should be due to the rise of daytime temperatures, because night time temperatures are well below freezing already. However, we find little if any warming in daytime temperatures, suggesting these ice fields are disappearing for reasons unrelated to a general warming; perhaps to decreasing cloudiness and precipitation."

"We imagine that we live in an age of reason and that the 'global warming' alarm is dressed up as science, but it's not science, it's propaganda. This claim that the IPCC is the world's top 1,500 or 2,500 scientists, you look at the bibliographies of the people and it's simply not true. There are quite a number of non-scientists. Those people that are specialists but don't agree with the polemic [the popular theory that global warming is man-made] and resign, and there have been a number that I know of, they are simply put on the [IPCC] author list and become part of this 2,500 of the world’s top scientists."

"There is no direct evidence which links 20th century global warming with anthropogenic (man-made) greenhouse gasses. Years ago if you would ask me, I’d say 'it's CO2' why? Because just like everyone else in the public, I listened to what the media had to say. There were periods in the Earth's long history when we had 3 times as much CO2 as we have today and periods when we had 10 times as much CO2 as we have today and if CO2 has a large effect on climate, then we should see it in the temperature reconstruction [of the Vostok ice core timescale data]."

University of Jerusalem

"The IPCC, like any human body, is political. The final conclusions are politically driven. It's become a great industry in itself and if the whole global warming farrago collapsed there would be an awful lot of people out of jobs and looking for work."

Professor Phillip Scott

"We've just been told lies – that's what it comes down to. The whole thing stinks. I've seen and heard them spitting fury at anybody who might disagree with them, which is not the scientific way. The whole global warming business has become like a religion and people who disagree are called heretics. I'm a 'heretic'. The makers of this programme are all 'heretics'."

Nigel Calder
Past Editor, New Scientist Magazine

SOURCE: 'The Great Global Warming Swindle' video.google.com/videoplay?do...26455

"[The mainstream consensus is] if the CO2 increases in the atmosphere, then the temperature will go up, but the [Vostok] ice core records shows exactly the opposite. So the fundamental assumptions, the most fundamental assumption of the whole theory of climate change due to humans is shown to be wrong. When people say to me "Oh you don't believe in global warming" I say, no, I believe in global warming, I just don't believe that human CO2 is causing global warming."

"If we look at climate through the geological time frame we would never suspect that CO2 is a major climate-driver. If we go back 8,000 years to the Holocene [Maximum] period, our current inter-glacial, it was much warmer than it is today. Now the polar bears obviously survived that period, they're with us today, they're very adaptable and these warm periods in the past, what we call ‘hipsi thermals' posed no problem for them."

Professor Ian Clark
Department of Earth Sciences
University of Ottawa

SOURCE: 'The Great Global Warming Swindle' video.google.com/videoplay?do...26455

"The fact of the matter is that tens of thousands of jobs depend upon global warming right now. It's a big business. Anyone who goes around and says that carbon dioxide is responsible for most of the warming of the 20th century hasn't looked at the basic numbers."

Department of Environmental Sciences
University of Virginia

Now that I've got your attention, so-called Global Warming is the result of increased solar wind activity originating from the Sun which pushes cosmic rays away from the Earth. The cosmic rays originate from exploding stars (supernovae) in deep space and are responsible for regulating the Earth's temperature by facilitating cloud formation in the Earth's troposphere which has a cooling affect on the Earth's climate. However, during a period of increased solar wind activity (as was the case for 400 years during the Medieval Warm Period) fewer clouds form in the Earth's troposphere and the result is so-called Global Warming.

If you want to know what is (naturally) happening to the Earth's average temperature, I suggest that you check out this documentary:

the movie made me fall asleep, but other than that, bleh, i'll give it a 3 for it's lack of entertainment but high information content lol. people need to realize that it's not just our garbage and our cars that pollute. everything that has inorganic compounds, from your camo pants, to your candy bracelets, to your average garbage can pollutes,by itself, all on it's own. yes cars pollute, and since there are so many of them, yeah it adds up, but i don't like to attribute global warming to those points. think of all the bombs that are dropped that put a billion times the carbon into the air. sadly people in general are so short sighted that the majority, though they may say that they care, aren't willing to do anything about it. 'tis a sad fact of life, something we just have to deal with.

oh and ps. i think that what djpyro stated is mostly false heh. first of all, the movie the day after tomorrow was so horrifically inaccurate in so many ways i will just state that and stop there. the whole "warm season" crap that he says is pretty ignorant. watch the movie bud, look shit up, don't just state what you THINK is right. you can't just say something and then be like "i am correct" it doesn't work that way tongue

Firstly, your general attitudes (speaking to the majority of you who've commented here) SUCK

S-U-C-K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If people like ourselves feel there is no hope, well then there truly is none!

The WHOOOLE fucking point of the movie was to express that we CAN still make a difference! like, HELLLLOOOOOOOOOO???

The first person (or the last I'm not sure) to comment on this movie begins by stating they haven't seen it, well then HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU POSTING A FUCKING REVIEW YOU IGNORANT FUCK???????

Geez, people campaign to save to world, quite literally, and you sit back with your biast, uninformed/misinformed bullshit attitude and make pessimists of the even less informed.
It's truly sad and disgusting!
Take responsibility for your own actions, and realize they affect the world around you!!!!!

Then start turning lights off that you're not using, become avid recyclers, plant a FUCKING TREE!!!
Don't just sit there and nay-say everyone who's actually trying to DO SOMETHING about it and preach from your high horse of mental insuffiency!!!!!!

Love D heart smile

i havent seen this movie...

we as humans arent creating global warming... were just speeding it up... the earth goes through like our

spring
summer
winter
fall

just globally... if we take away the co2 emission completely the icecaps will come back and continue downwards and you got your ice age..

if we continue to pump co2 emissions the ice caps will melt and the whole "the day after tommorow" starts, just not in a day(hopefully)...

really our earth itself is still in its warm stages, the ice age to scientists wasnt that long ago... and for the earth it's time for everything to melt just lke our spring season...

summer comes and its fucking hot and of cource it doesnt happen in a day or like our season... it happens over a period of years instead of months...

i just read that over and the whole co2 thing kinda goes againts the second part, but its all true lol...

Personally it really was just a public service announcement to get all of his little redneck supporters to be on his side or whatever.

I mean personally all this movie is, is a political expose' he just wanted to play the political view... i mean these are all things coming from a man who was a big supporter of the lumber companies while he was vice president.... how can we believe him?

good movie. pissed me off when al gore started talking about his own life, and his "calling" to act against global warming. like, i dont care, i just want to know about the issue!

scorchedearth

too bad the writer of the original review can't spell roll eyes

anyway, this movie was fun and raised a few good points. however, what gore should have done is to focus our attention on what we can do to help save the environment for future generations and not to be overly concerned with global warming that we probably cannot stop anyway.

Yo, x-tingiusher is a Smart Man...Ha. First off...It's called An Inconvenient Truth and it's not directed by Al Gore it's Directed by Davis Guggenheim. Oh and it came out in 2005. Anyways, this Movie is Amazing.
It really showcases what we're doing to ourselves. It's full of interesting facts that I can bet 99% of us never knew.
I know before I saw this movie I though Global Warming was under control. It's not and we need to do more. Start off by
seeing this Movie. Then go to, www.climatecrisis.net to find out what you can do to help out. We need to do something before it's too late. I think this is 1 of the best Movies of all time.

He's super serial you guys!

Hey, why don't we just conveniently ignore the fact that water vapour is the number one greenhouse gas? Or that the human contribution of greenhouse gasses PALES in comparison to the amount released naturally by the Earth? Or the fact that the sun has been undergoing a warm spell lately?

I guess those would be the inconvenient truths if you had some sort of agenda...

very good movie. me and my boyfriend were watching it and kept saying"wow" to alot of things that happened or is happening with global warming. and what would happen when the sea levels get higher. it's scary but i think the world needed a wake up call like this.
