fantastic film, loved it, it was very moving, the parts where he lost his total hearing, with the amp smashing, that part crushed me, it was terribly intense, but a really good look at club life, the party the drugs, and how a dj controls the crowd. and i like how it portrays if you want it bad enough take it, you can grab it you just have to reach.

This movie was not based on a true story...it is a mockumentary like Fubar.

A true man vs. himself mockumentary, very in depth look at the club life, and the pressures of being a headliner house Dj and the obstacles one can overcome. I could totally empathize with Pete, and canadian producer, nuff said.

This movie I saw in the new year of 2006
This movie I loved! however, made me realize that my hearing is getting a lot worse than it use to be
maybe the constant loud music and club attending is making my hearing worse than it was in the first place. This movie was my untimate nightmare.... losing my hearing, but made an impact on me.
I know that no matter what I can always have the music with me.

mad respects to ANYONE that can pull off going deaf... and still manage to be one killer fucking d.j! like thats some crazy insane shit right there bud, this movies crazy.. he gets all fuckkkkeed on coke n when he goes deaf keeps himself in a padded room with pillows over his ears then he meets a badger.. straps fireworks to his head and lights them.. but jumps in the pool before they go off.. i dont doubt him... i prolly woulda thought the same way .. but he can STILL mix them crazy beats.. feelin the vibrations n stuff.. its crazy .. you should watch it!!...

Loved the fact someone took on such difficult subject matter. I liked the storyline and thought the actors did a wonderful job. I laughed; felt sad in all the right places, yet I found the movie was missing something. For me, not enough of the music was showcased - would have like more. This should have been a hit.

An extreamly interesting story. Very original. It was awsome that they played it as a documentary. An interesting way to tell a fictional persons life story.

This movie was amazing; I loved its moc-umentary style! It was funny, it was sad... it was REAL. And a warning for all of us who play music to be careful-- look after your ears or they may turn on you someday!

I have to admit this movie was pretty, it was a pretty deep story and had a lot of feeling behind it.
I know the guy that played his agent, he is a pretty cool guy. Anyways, it's worth watching if not for the story... for like a few people have said, the whole process of him learning to mix again.

by far the best illustration on film of the process of mixing ive ever came acrossed in my lifetime...how they divided the screen in half and showed 2 records , 2 needles...
such a broken down basic wrap of the process in like 30 seconds...one of my fave movies...
even if he isnt real.
its an amazing story.

the movie holds a special place in my heart. The whole message behind it was perfect the acting was tip top, and being a DJ it really made you think but yet inspired you.

The acting is good, the soundtrack is amazing.
And it brings a very good point to the forefront...

I friggin love this movie. It's an inspiration to try harder and deal with things cause seriously there are people who don't have things we do and thing we might take forgranted..it's an inspiration to become a better dj and work harder at it. I highly respect Michael Dowse for taking on a subject matter that he was not familiar with and still tap into the right resources and involve the right people to really capture the spirit of the 'European DJ as god' culture. The film itself is not perfect, but it is a nice involving mockumentary format (so often mockumentary chooses to do just that... 'mock' either its subject or themselves in order to find success, whereas this piece is told in complete seriousness and works). Arguably it is like two different films connected into one (two tones, two subjects with his partying & destructive ways, then after he meets the girl and works towards his triumphant comeback), which one may or may not like (I did), but it was a reasonably unique approach and definitely worth checking out. The soundtrack is also spectacular and like a time capsule for club music history. It combines wonderfully to amplify the spirit of hedonism that plays an important role in this film.
