Great movie...I had a bitter sweet feeling afterwards...
It shows how straight men react to those special "girls"

I thought this movie was beautiful and charming in a really fucked up way.
I wish that kitten had told her mother that s/he was her daughter.

"Breakfast on Pluto tells the story of Patrick "Kitten" Braden, a catty, beleaguered Irish transvestite who becomes involved with the Irish Republican Army while on a quest to reunite with his mother. Told in thirty-six short chapters, this is the second collaboration between Neil Jordan and author and screenwriter Patrick McCabe, who gave us The Butcher Boy." - TIFF website 2005
I'm not always in favour of chopping films up into "chapters", but I applaud it here for director Neil Jordan. The 36 chapters of Kitten’s life is colourful, engaging, and coherent. this film has been described as “genre-bending” but it is paired with a good storytelling formula (including the chronological chapters and witty sparse narration) that propels the movie forward. Kitten’s search for his mother, topics of sexuality and politics all blend seamlessly to have you cheering for this less than normal protagonist.
Cillian Murphy is wonderful as the transsexual Kitten, he chooses such diverse roles and excels in all of them. It’s almost a shame that he’s currently landing only villain roles in Hollywood for he is capable of showcasing much more.
Also exceptional in this film was the wardrobe and art direction that creates a blend of colour, nostalgia, and atmosphere to perfectly illustrate the life, the heady times, and social-economic situations that these characters exist in.
I absolutely adore this film, it is an unconventional feel-good film!
