* Definitely one of the higher quality animes out there.
* It has a great plot
* Hour long episodes instead of the usual half hour
* The blood, gore and other graphics are amazing.

Four stars in total smile

Seriously disturbing and bloody but excellent. I normally don't go for the ultra disturbing plot lines of anime but this one is just great.

I have this bad habit of trying to mix logic into fantasy settings and the weak/lacking explanation of the origins and abilities of the diclonius' was annoying to me. in every other way a good if thoroughly disturbing show.

It was a good series, kudo's for original plot. a bit slow in the first few episodes, a bit to much classic anime style characters for me. i wanted to slap a hoe when she wouldn't stop crying for stupid reasons. the ending was a bit abrupt in my mind, i would have liked it to drag out for a few episodes longer.

i love this anime! lucy is awesome, especially after she regains some of her memories towards the end. and i love nyu XD though she's the same person as lucy she presents an innocence and she's quite amusing

Best Anime I've ever seen! Better than most tv shows in general, not just anime. But most tv and most anime sucks, so, oh well.

cheesy dialog kinda ruined it but the plot and the senseless violence made it awesome XD those duels between diclonius were intense and the ending was epic imho watched the whole series in a day haha

the moment she starts going psycho bitch is with good reason. those kids were like fucking demon spawn lol totally deserved it XD

Great series, I'm not one for senseless gore-but when it's backed by a plot and executed as well as this...I have no complaints. Few series drive forth a message as well as this one, and the length is just right for that in itself-not too long, not too short.

High on my list.

ARTofWRATH

I enjoyed what I saw of it, the fact that shes nude threw half of it was kind of a turn off and the cheesy dielog kinda killed it for me. Nice art work and plot- the killing was nice too.

Elfen Lied is a great anime, the character development is really well done, and I agree, the animation is excellent as well.

I haven't seen all of the episodes and I rarely watch anime anymore but I found this series very captivating.

The Story starts out with a secret facility for a mutated breed of human called the diclonious. The diclonious are known to have horns, usually pink eyes and hair and invisible arms called vectors. Vectors are extremly dangerous and are considered weapons. So when a diclonious is born she is usually put to death. With the exception of a few who are painfully tested in the faciliated.

Elfen Lied is an anime that explores the dark impulses of the human mind that people fail to acknowledge. The anime explores such negative themes like prejudice, torture, and savagery through the interactions between diclonius and human characters, especially through the perspective of Lucy whose memories the viewer will experience at some points of the series. The series makes use of gratuitous violence and nudity to show the savage nature of both the humans who torture the diclonius and the diclonius who brutally murder their torturers. Kohta’s interactions with Lucy represent a world of acceptance and trust that Lucy desired away from the people who imprisoned her. Besides diclonius-human relationships, the series also delves into psychological conditions that affect some of the characters, which help make the series more than just a gore fest. In terms of animation, Elfen Lied features smooth, bright animation that flows quite well in action sequences with diclonius. The opening song, “Lilium”, goes well with the dark environment that Elfen Lied tries to establish.

The animation itself is extremely beautiful and the story line keeps you hooked the entire time. The series is nice too cause it is only 4 disks long!
