Very Tim Burton-esque since his last two films seem to be going along the lines of musicals (Corpse Bride was also a musical.) Johnny Depp also did most of his own singing in that movie.
Quite the simple story line but Burton dragged it out to just the right amount to make a full movie out of it. Although I did find the ending rather predictable. And it was unfortunate that you are left hanging as to Sweeny's daughters fate.

I FUCKING LOVE TIM BURTON FILMS!! This movie is great with a morbid sence of humor only Tim Burton can bring! Like when the bodies go smacking down on the basement floor durring the killing spree! I dont know why but it makes me laugh everytime! Also this movie has THE MAN Johnny Depp. He plays Tim Burton parts so well!

SOO GOOD!!
I love the gruesome scene where he goes on a killing spree and then there's the random one where he doesn't kill the dude and it's because his wife and daughter are there.
Also really really sad in the end.
All in all a wonderful movie

blood was very obviously fake.
awful terrible sucky ending.
costumes were nice.
setting was fitting.
helena bonham carter is just plain sexy, in an odd way, like always.

FUCKING AWESOME! I love Johnny Depp! One of the best actors of this time. And then add in Tim Burton! I love him so! These two are brillant together!!!

Yes my vote is partly cuz The Depp is appart of the movie.
I found it to be a fun watch, the singing was good even though I lamen could tell they had to cut a lot out do to timeing or blood wich ever. And as for the blood try watching a Saw movie and get back to me ablout saying their was to much in this movie.
The soungs wher catchy and entertaining (had to enjoy that beeeach dieing). Its true Tim Burton missed the point of the play but deliverd a grad movie.

i find it funny how people complain about th blood in this movie, watch sleepy hollow, tim burton used the same blood for sweeney todd as he did in sleepy hollow  yes it's supposed to look fake but i loved the movie anyway, i liked the songs that sondheim had in it, and the cast as well, the only song i didn't like was the johanna one :/

But I love Johnny as an actor. He did good singing.
Sweeney Todd a.k.a Benjamin Barker returns to London. He opens a barber shop above Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pie Shop, where she sells "the worst pies in London." In his anger, Sweeney goes on a murderous rampage on all London, & Mrs. Lovett cooks the dead into her pies.

I love this film... the songs, the imagery, the blood 
And I have to say it... it serves all of you Musical haters right for not doing some research before you go to the theater. Sweeney Todd has always been a musical, you're just morons. To the person who says the songs were long and drawn out and sucked. You need to work on something called taste, get some.

Loved this movie. I adore a dark musical, add Johnny Depp in the mix and it was just that much more amazing. The story was sad as shit, but they did a great job with it. It was a great night out with my hubby for our anniversary.

It was better than I thought. And I understood that it was a musical but there were a couple times where they just really dragged out the songs and wouldn't move on to the next scene.

The movie wasn't that bad actually. Normally i HATE HATE HATE musicals, but after a little while i didnt even notice the singing. A very predictable movie yes, but i did enjoy it all the same. Hehe the "blood" (more like paint) made me laugh and when he'd dump the people in the cellar or whatever and they'd land on their head was funny as hell ROFL!
AAND all the Harry Potter characters were a plus! WOOOO

Big fan of Mr. Burton + Johnny Depp.
Amazing movie, love the scenery and the whole lighting, kind of makes me feel like living in a dark world. Some parts were gory and unbareable but it depends on the type of audience and how much blood a person can stand in a film. Other than that every character had a little twist, very interesting and artist/exciting and expressive.
Helena + Tim = amazing couple how I would love to meet them both.

Amazing for a musical-made-movie, I loved how they didn't conform it to being JUST a film. It also had the greatest touch of dark humour, which is always delicious.
Once I left, I felt like I had watched a live performance, it was amazing.
The gore was appropriate for the story and context, not too excessive.
I love Depp and Bonham-Carter; they are always an amazing pair. I was surprised at how well their voices fit the music genre. This is probably my favourite Burton movie.

it was okay...
i like johnny depp and alan rickman well enough, and i love tim burton, but i cant say this was any of their bests.
i think the concept was fun, but they could have done a lot more with it. the character histories weren't very well explained, and the songs were slow and repetitive.. you ended up just kind of wanting to see what happened next, instead of listening to him and mrs lovett sing another five million verses.
it wasn't terrible, and there were parts that i liked. but i also didn't love it.
i might just be biased cause i don't like movies with sad endings ^_^

It's about time we had another great musical on the silver screen. It was bloody, funny, and dark. I loved every minute. Johnny Depp sounded REALLY good, and Helena Bonham Carter was so cute.

Makeup, costumes, singing, and gore were all amazing! I've never seen a musical like this. This one was definitely my style! I love Tim Burton movies!

This movie was really well done. It was a typical Tim Burton movie, but it had a little something extra to it. I'm buying it when it comes out because I would watch it over and over again.
The music was excellent. The acting was excellent. The story was excellent.. I loved it.

the movie was amazing.. in every aspect..
what i found soo funny was when he was singing about his daughter as well as slitting throats.. that was just behond hilarious.. lol

This movie was brilliant! It had that Burton feel to it... just enough gore and blood to make you flinch. The acting was phenominal, and you get not one, but TWO Harry Potter characters in it. && I didn't think Johnny Depp would be able to pull off the whole singing thing, but he did! Let's just hope he doesnt go the way of Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan

I've always enjoyed watching tim burton films with johnny depp in them. So this movie was amazing! I love it. I really didn't think that johnny depp had a singing voice but he pulled it off. LOVED IT!!

I loved it, then again im a huge fan of tim burton, musicals, johnny depp, and alan rickman all seperatly. So thrown together as it was, was just awesome! ^_^
Plus the humourous addition of Sacha Baron Cohen, was wicked, and good for some laughs.

this movie was amazing, very tim burton-esque with the tragic lovers and having the twists, and darkness of the characters, i love how it was so gloomy and the music was cheery. Also, i love how the blood was done like it wasnt trying to be realistic and it was telling you that, the acting was great, and having the guy who play borat was too funny.

I absolutely loved it! I have always been a fan of the original musical Sweeney Todd, and I think this was done very well. Especially for Tim Burton.. only downside is the blood work could have been a little more realistic.. but its a musical its not meant to be perfect. The acting was fantastic and the cast made it even better.. <3 johnny deppe

It wasn't very "Tim Burton-esque" and it was VERY depressing, which they DID NOT depict in the previews. The acting was good but they sang the same songs over and over again. It was also very slow.

OMG I don't care if you don't like musical's what so ever you HAVE to go see Sweeney Todd cause Johnny Depp PLUS Tim Burton makes that moving easily one of the best movies I've seen this year and well really in a couple of years. It is DEFAINTELY something I'm going to buy the SECOND it comes out on video! I mean when you see it you'll get chill bumps it's soo good! I did anyway. I also found out it was named best movie of the year and Johnny Depp was named best actor of the year and both of those are completely true! So go see it now I DEMAND IT!!!!!!
