Furs can be cute. You need to avoid the socially retarded; unfortunately about 80% of the fandom...
There are cool ones, that take it about to the level that then entire country of japan does as a collective, but just as there are trekkies who would have a giant public orgy in a homemade replica of a teleport, there are the furries who make the whole lot seem bad. It's rather unfortunate.
Some of the art can be really beautiful, and some of the art depicts a dolphin fox with nine shitting dick-nipples. Members of the fandom can be organized by the art they prefer, in that respect.
Not that anyone would read all this, anyway, but there's more to it than OMFG YIFF. You'd lose a bunch of social wealth if we all just "yiffed in hell".
