Hot on the heels of the tremendous Sweet Chili Heat flavour, Doritos has decided to try their luck again with another bold new flavour. Tandoori Sizzler Doritos is now available in Canada, and is already proving to be a big hit among chip aficionados.
Unlike most other Dorito varieties, Tandoori Sizzler doesn't make any attempt to have any sort of typical Texmex flavouring - gone are the southwestern spices, the chili powder, the cheese. And it is this brave, new twist that makes these Doritos so striking.
The first bite of the chip (which is corn chip-yellow covered with a dusting of ochre powder) features a strong blast of a classic blend of Indian-inspired spices. The cumin and over-the-counter curry powder are the strongest initial flavours, but from there the taste progresses to add in a touch of turmeric and a subtle undertone of tomato. All of this develops beautifully as the strong, salty natural corn chip flavour comes in to help finish it off by providing a balance to a late kick of spiciness. The aftertaste is overwhelmingly one of spice with a strong corn base. There's very little of the chemical taste that a lot of other Indian-themed mainstream chip flavours have, so the chip feels more fresh.
In terms of spiciness, Tandoori Sizzler gets it just right. There's enough spice to satisfy someone who is looking for a strong curry taste with a kick, but not so much that it will scare away the gentle of palette. If ever a corn chip is going to stay true to the classic tortilla concept while still making a bold internationalist statement, this is the chip to do it.
For fans of spicy chips, Indian seasoning and a classic corn chip crunch, you and this snack will be on the regular in no time.

i have always been a fan of the Dorito corn chip for its texture and flavour, now they step it up and give it a real kick with this tandoori business. i can't get enough!
be warned though, this is one of the most heavily seasoned and spiced chips I've ever had - even for a Dorito

I was confused at first as to what a "tandoori" flavour might be considering tandoori is a type of oven, not really a flavour. I can imagine that this chip is the byproduct of a failed curry chip attempt. Aside from being the most ethnic tasting chip it is also probably the spiciest Dorito chip I have ever tried! Its spiciness comes from a mixture of chili and paprika and will stay in you mouth even after two cups of water.
This is what the paprika Pringles should have been like.
I highly recommend you try these!
