First and foremost, I stopped raving for quite some time (other than working at Blak which doesn't really count) and this was my first one back since Destiny's NYE party.
I didn't get in til about 11:30 or midnight, it wasn't that full, but that's how I like it. Enough room to dance and not get stepped on or slapped around. It started to fill up more and more as the night went on and it was still good times.
Haven't been downtown in a while and the people made my night worth it. Definite appreciation for everyone that I went with as well as the people I ran into and saying hi to all the good ol' security guys. Darkrave isn't my favourite event, but I'll be making my way around a bit more often just to pop in and keep in the loop.
Anyways, the music.. was repetitive, but I loved the fact that (as already mentioned) Combichrist, MSI, NIN and mother fucking Bloodhound Gang mixes! That just made my night complete! Great.. everything altogether. I didn't like the backroom so much.. although I did try to withstand it when my friend was spinning at 1am, but I couldn't make it through with the seizure inducing strobe lights. Sorry Scott!
Honestly.. a party is just the same as any other party, sure music fits into the equation, but any party is what you make of it. At first I was thinking, "Oh fuck, THIS is why I stopped going to parties!" Then I ended up having a great time regardless of the younger crowd, but hey, that's what happens at all ages events. Deal with it or don't bother going.
Also, this is just a side note to kelly-xox..
Darkrave is usually like this one, but you caught it on a bad night. They have some bomb nights. You'll never know unless you go more than once right?
The backroom is filled with couches.. good DNB last night as well as a strobe light.. it's an all ages event with drugs everywhere, what in the fuck did you think was going to happen in the back room? Of course people are gonna sit down and just trip balls.
Older men will ALWAYS be at all ages events JUST to look at the "fresh meat", for lack of a better term. You ignore them, they're harmless. They start shit, get security. It's not that difficult.
And the club DOES have air conditioning.. have you ever heard of this new thing called body heat? Yeah, when a group of people get together and sweat, they emanate a LOT of heat. Hence.. it was warm. Whoopdee fucking doo! ANY party at ANY venue with a good amount of people in it will heat the place up. And since you mentioned that it was warm inside.. that already answers your question as to why people were outside. It's called fresh air, nicotine as well as receiving hearing back instead of screaming into someone's ear all night. Yeah.. it's nice outdoors every now and then just to SIT DOWN and relax. And if you were dancing inside the entire time, you'd want to sit down as well. So fucking relax.
Plus, it was $15 because you're underage.
Yes, I went to your profile, you said you're new to the Toronto scene, so fucking lighten up and stop judging based on one party.
You just turned 17 for christ's sake.

I definitely couldn't have asked for a better night.
I danced my ass off for Mindfield, a bit of Ayria and all of Imperative Reaction.
But when Combichrist came.. oh fuck. My body is fucking aching right now. I was right up front of the stage.
Even better was that the keyboardist from Imperative Reaction, Nick, came up to me after Combichrist finished and asked if I wanted to go backstage and if my friend wanted to come.. *squeals* I was so.. incredibly happy.
I chilled with them until like 4am.. that's when the tour bus started moving and they were heading to Montreal.
All the guys are so fucking nice. Gabriel, Andy, Joey, Jon, Shaun, Nick.. these guys are fucking bomb.
I don't think I've ever been so stoked to see a show. I've gotten guestlist for Lamb of God before and I wasn't that excited because it was at the Kool Haus. Smaller venues such as Fun Haus or the Bop make for a more personal atmosphere when a band is playing.
Combichrist played all that I wanted to hear except for Get Your Body Beat which has been explained by DarkKodiaK.. haha.
I definitely can't complain about anything that happened that night.

Duude.
I agree with whoever it was that posted for Terror Inc.
- it is a rave
- people are going to do drugs
- there are going to be sketchbags
- kids are going to exceed their limits
- clothes are going to come off
- and it's the Bop.
Everyone knows that security is corrupt there.
Either be on their good side or their bad. It's your choice really.
I have to say I missed Aqua - Doctor Jones, and I am damn sad about that one. Probably outside getting air.
But Unabomber and SOS RIPPED IT!!! HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!
Caution, Statixxx.. my god. That is all I have to say.
Sam Punk KILLED it for me.
The hardstyles kept me goin most of the night. I loved the heavy beats. Dancing in 4 pound (each), 5 inch platform boots is fucking difficult, but damn, I was SO PUMPED! I brought extra shoes just in case, but I didn't want to MISS a second of the music once I got into it, and when I wasn't on the dancefloor, I was outside getting my nicotine fix. I gotta say, my legs are still sore from that night.
And the "kiddies" do have to stop ruining the events. Gives the rare mature youngin's like me a bad name.
Luckily, like silver_sunkis said, the good outweighed the bad. The good distracted me from the bad actually. Good people, saw some old faces, met some new ones. Music made it for me.
Def. one of the better parties I've been to IMO.
When going to an all ages event, you GOTTA look past the kiddies, the drug usage/abuse, the stupidly intoxicated nakedness, and the stupidly dress folk. Amongst with the older creepers and sketchbags. Otherwise, you're GOING to have a bad time.
Props to Unabomber and the crew for throwin the party and making it worth my time and money.

Kay.. to all the people complaining about the heat:
Shut yer trap. Any rave you go to is gonna be hot, at least this one gave yeh ins n' outs. You underage doorknobs should feel privileged to have been able to go in and out at a new venue. And yes, I am underage as well, but I'm not complaining about anything here.
I'm agreeing with silver_sunkis on many different terms; underage sketchbags; moderation; maturity levels.
Learn what you can and can't handle.. if you overindulge yourselves, you're gonna bring your friends down 'cause then they gotta babysit you guys.. yeah sometimes it's okay, but constantly? Forget it. Find your limit.
To lillee, they let people in because they were being hospitable and keeping us out of the rain before they had everything set up. Kicked people out at 8 to collect payment, and it started at 8:30. Sure it was advertised to start at 7, but there are always gonna be a few setbacks. Just as Unabomber said, if he wanted anything done right, he had to do it himself.. he's got a broken fuckin foot arrite?
Kudos to you Christian.
Mad respect to =Hybrid=, yeh pulled the words straight outta my mouth on this review. Definitely no where near the worst party I've been to.
Venue = bomb. Hoping to be there in the future.
My rating? Four stars. And if you can't see why this event deserves better than what you guys are giving, then pull that 10ft pole outta yer ass and look at what they had to work with. Mad love to the guys that made this happen; especially last minute. Christian, you fuckin cripple.. glad to see you champed through it all and made it happen anyways.
As for my critisizm towards a lot of people here, call me a bitch, I dare you.
