didn't really like it at all.
it was what i thought it'd be, crap, the idea was kinda lame in my opinion. and the whole movie proved the flaw in mathematics. besides the basics, like adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing, you can make anything equal anything you want. usually using any combination of the basic math skills most people get in grade school. all the extras you learn just make it easier to get whatever answer you want. i'm no math wiz, far from it, but that whole theme annoyed the hell out of me. like it was some huge big deal that somehow everything 'magically' somehow had the equation of 23. he picked and chose how to add shit up to get 23.
on top of that 23 bull, the movie was also incredibly boring. once i'd clued in that this was gonna be a movie about some guy compulsively obsessing over the number 23, which was about the same time he picked up the book, the rest of the movie was just repeating the shit i'd already figured out. that he was a loser with too much time on his hands.
'oh what about the crazy twisting end' blah blah blah. it wasn't that crazy. wasn't even surprising. more so a last ditch effort to try to draw the audience back in cuz they knew they'd lost more than half the interest because of all the math shit, math is boring, even in a thriller. i dunno who decided putting mathematics and suspense/thrillers together would make a great movie, but they should be fired.
the only reason this is getting 2 stars is cuz i didn't fall asleep while watching it.

Rancher Dan Evans(Christian Bale) heads into Bisbee to clear up issues concerning the sake of his land when he witnesses the closing events of a stagecoach robbery lead by famed outlaw Ben Wade(Russell Crowe). No sooner or later, Wade is captured by the law in Bisbee and Evans finds himself one of the escorts who will take Wade to the 3:10 to Yuma train in Contention for the reward of $200. Evans quest for taking Wade to the station is not only for saving for his land but an inner battle that he can be more than just a naive rancher in the eyes of his impetuous and gunslinging son William Evans. The transport to Contention is hazardous and filled with ambushes from Indians, pursuits by Wade's vengeful gang and Wade's own conniving and surreptitious demeanor that makes the ride all more intense.
i loved this movie. i wasn't really too sure about it when i rented it, but i'll give most anything with Christian Bale a shot. and i was not disappointed. the story was a little drab in some spots, but it's a western. they always seem to have those slow spots. the plot was very well laid out, and i loved the character development. it does seem kinda cliched, but i liked how Bale's and Crowe's characters bonded during the transportation. kinda gave it a wholesome feeling i guess. theres not really a whole lot i didn't like about this one. i especially loved the cracks of the pistols and revolvers. it wasn't just the usual 'bang bang pwew pwew twack twack' sounds that most movies involving gunfire use. made it seem more realistic to hear the retort echo off canyon walls or just echo away. so i'll say it gets 5 stars, just for surprising me.

wow, i really don't get the problem...
i'm not generally a fan of tom cruise, but he did alright in this one, the point is, he's a deadbeat dad, and he's played a pretty good dumbass father figure in this movie. sure he over acted, but it's kinda part of the point. i'm sure if a real situation like that happened, most people would act in a very similar manner, if they were also cowardly dead beat fathers... lol
anyways, the effects were great, the story was alright, gets a little too 'family moment' like for me more than once, but the general chaos and destruction were done prefect in my opinion. and besides the happy family ending, the prospect of the aliens dieing of the common cold was fantastic.
i really can't see why so many people didn't like it, if tom cruise was their only problem. either way, i think it deserves 4 stars, i own it and i've watched it a fair amount, and i'm looking at the whole spectrum of the movie, not just the actors, or the story, or the effects, everything on the whole, and with everything on the whole, it was a very well done movie.
and another thing, the fact that people went to see that movie with a war in mind was stupid. what the hell kind of weaponry would we have, now, to go against an alien race who'd obviously advanced enough, and had been advanced long enough to have planted their war machines under our cities long before we even got there, to travel thru space and time to try and take over our planet. i mean really. this is supposed to be a one sided battle. if it wasn't for our germs and bacteria we would have lost that war anyways.
but i know it's just cuz everyone hates tom cruise, so they form their opinion on everything he does around the fact that they hate tom cruise. so this movie could have been flawless, prefect in every way, and there would still be this many people who hated it with every fiber of their being, just cuz the name tom cruise is attached to it. form opinions of real facts guys, not of a popularity contest.

after reading previous 'reviews' i just have to jump on the band wagon here.
the close-mindedness of religious fanatics astounds me to tell the truth. i can't get over that people actually have nothing better to do than to bitch about someones beliefs not matching they're own. you god freaks certainly have a unique way of twisting your words to make you seem like the better person.
take _LAIRDRIVER_ for example. loved how you tried to compare the holy bible to the satanic bible, and conveniently left out the fact that your holy bible was also written by a mortal man. and it was just peachy on your part to assume that the satanic bible was the first of it's kind where satanism is concerned. bravo. and by the way, way to go pushing you religious beliefs around. and how dare you even suggest that someones who learns and thinks for themselves is going to burn in hell. you have no right to any such comment, especially when no one before your 'review' was an instigator. i do believe all reviews prior to yours were focused on the book. none mentioned any kind of conversion to satanism, or bashing of any other religions. book bashing sure. but thats expected in a book review... -.-;
for another good look at the stupidity of organized religion focus on pampoche. i really have to say, you really shouldn't take things so literally, it shows how gullible you really are. to prove my point, which i'm sure i don't have to, but will anyways, quoting Prizz: it teaches you to protect, yourself.. its all about Self preservation.. if someone hits you hit them back.. but it no where says go out of your way to hit them.
to quote the 11th Commandment of Satinism
"When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him."
that quote does not literally mean, if someone gets in your way, beat them down and kill them, and satan will keep you out of jail. idiot. there are more ways then one to destroy a person, and most of which don't involve killing them. and to liken satan to hitler is just ludicrous. satan didn't make hitler do anything. hitler was the one who made hitler do what he did. to compare satan to hitler is stupid. stop looking for demons where they most certainly don't exist.
i'm gonna lay this out right now, i'm not a satanist. i'd be more of an agnostic if i was anything at all. i don't believe in organized religion, all it's ever brought in the past was war and hardship, and has discriminated against everyone and everything at one point or another. how can you take the holy bible to be anything but a work of fiction? really? all these religious freaks talk like the bible is written in stone, and can not be changed, but it has. several times within the last couple of centuries. remember? the bible said women were not equal to men, were evil and easily coerced into doing evil deeds if they weren't evil. but now, women are deemed equal, no longer more prone to being evil or sinful than a man. and people of ethnicity. they were believed to be lesser humans. more ape than human because of the color of their skin, because their culture was so much different than that of the explorers and priest who first discovered them, primitive, because of their lack of religion, or the belief in a religion completely different than that of the holy bible. you want to know whats going to change next? the bibles views on homosexuality. ya, i said it.
honestly, i'm gonna come off like a hypocrite, but it wouldn't be the first time. this is a review board. you read a book, and you review it. was it good, bad, too long, interesting, well written, things of that nature. it's not a religious forum where the jo-hoes, god freaks and other religious fanatics can come and bash people of other religions and beliefs. i understand i'm contradicting myself, cuz i'm technically bashing the bashers.
but i'm allowed to point that finger. as mentioned before, this was a normal book review board before _LAIRDRIVER_ decided to bash the satanic religion, not the book, but the people reading it. totally uncalled for and unnecessary.
organized religion is outdated. i understand how it worked thousands of years ago, but with the advances in science, theres really no point to it anymore besides as a set of guidelines. i'm not saying don't believe in whatever your religion is, just don't push it on everyone else who doesn't share your view. you are technically allowed to ask once, and only once, if someone has considered taking up whatever faith you happen to follow, but if they confirm that they are the anti-christ for purposeful refusal to follow you in your faith, then fuck off with the conversion bullshit. just be happy that you offered to show them the light and error of their ways, and if they are content to spend eternity burning in hell, then let them. simple as that.
i'm notorious for being a very outspoken individual, so i couldn't just sit back and not say anything on how ridiculous the whole issue is. it's a book, one i have unfortunately not read, but a book nonetheless.

contrary to previous reviews, i thought this movie was pretty good.
the beginning was kinda drawn out, and for me the movie was a bit slow at times, but honestly, the gore more than makes up for the movie being slow to start and pick up.
i wasn't a fan of the look of the vampires, i'm more into the pretty sexy vampires, not the crone-like ugly ones. but their look worked for the movie.
but the gore was by far the thing that made the movie for me. the dummy heads were great, seamless. the overhead shot was perfect. i loved the total carnage and chaos, and the blood! it was great. the only part that really didn't fly with me was the stupid way the vamps bit their victims. nothing like a bloody raspberry to scare the crap out of the crowd... -.-; that really was the only thing i could find wrong with it. i would have rather seen some lunging and have someone rip their throats out or something. and the ending, as romantic as it is, wasn't great. i'm not a real romantic, so it wasn't a real catcher, but overall, the movie was good. good enough for 4 stars.
and as for syphon coming to the conclusion that the vampires only just figured out that it's dark all the time in the arctic during a specific time of year, if they had of been paying attention to the movie, instead of looking for things to give a bad critique on, they would have remembered the part where the head vamp mentioned that it took them ages to convince humans that they were only bad dreams. and another, lower vamp had mentioned during feeding that it had been ages since they had been there. also mentioned later were previous events where previous towns, further north, had been totally ripped apart, and were just chalked up to people going crazy while there was no sunlight.
i'm all for people having an opinion, and stating said opinion, but pay attention to the movie if your gonna rip it apart. and get your facts straight.

this was the worst by far that i've seen of the saw movies.
it was just so stupid.
locking a bunch of people up in a house they can't get out of, the house being the trap. umm... lame?
the acting blowed chunks, the gore was ridiculous, and the story line was terrible.
the only part in the movie that actually made me cringe was the chick falling into the pool of needles. but that alone doesn't warrant any kind of good rating cuz everything else in the movies just sucked hardcore.
why people seem to love this series is beyond me.
common guys, think for yourselves here, these movies arn't good, why can't you like something with substance...? something that had great actors, a perfect plot and story line, and really great looking awesome gore...?
to tell the truth, i'm sure the saw series is a fad. something picked up by the youth of today because 'it's cool'. or, even worse, cuz it goes against the grain of normal society, and thus all of those non-conformists flock to the theaters and movie stores to watch, rent, and buy the series cuz they're just so non-conformist it's the only logical thing to do. with emo the way it is, non-conformists are the new preps... lol and are equally as brain dead.
so in ending, this movie, and the rest of the series that i've seen, just blowed. and i can't believe theres a fourth on the way and that they're even considering a fifth.

it sucked.
they all sucked.
i mean the first was alright, but not great.
i was stupid and bought the dvd before i watched it, after seeing it once, i sold it to my brother cuz he likes the series, usually i would say i couldn't understand why, but my brothers very simple minded and very easy to please, and i would assume that most everyone else that enjoys these kinds of retarded and over done 'horror' films would also have to be equally simple minded.
they are so predictable, and totally unoriginal by now. so many people i know are hyped about the fourth, but i can't see why. i mean the guy died in the third one, but he's done whatever to make the game continue, even after his death? they should have just stopped after the second one, which was the worst by far.
the gore looks totally fake, the set looks totally fake, the acting is boarder line b movie, or bad pron movie acting. and the story is severely over rated, and too much like touristas, and the hostel movies, i understand saw came out before those movies, but they all get chunked in together cuz the whole ploy of all of these types of movies is to shock the viewer. the only thing i was shocked about is that they actually made it to shelves, and actually sold enough to warrant sequels.
and by the way, .elimu., it's IV for four, not IIII. learn your roman numerals.

i don't quite see why so many people dislike this movie... i loved it.
probably mostly due to the fact that i was familiar with alot of the happenings, like the door, the thinny, the time loop... and since this movie was just that good, i'm gonna search out the book so i can get the better version, i mean this movie was fantastic, so the book will probably blow my mind... lol i'm so buying it to add it to my collection.
and i loved the ending. i'm usually the kind of person who likes angsty endings where the main or most loved/liked characters die in the end, but this one was still a great ending. the look of shock on her face hearing her daughters voice on that tape recorder, it was perfect. i couldn't think of a better way to end it. i mean if the guy hadda killed himself, like every other person who had been in that room before him, that ending would have been too pradictable. and he seemed like a much stronger character than to just give in. so all around i'm quite please with the whole movie. nothing less than 5 stars

the final chapter. finishing up with Mordred and the last trek to the Dark Tower. by this time most, if not all of Roland's Ka-tet are dead, some for a second time. it leaves Susannah and Roland the mute artist Patrick to finish the journey to the tower, and the final battle with the Crimson King himself. and of course, Roland's assention to the top of his Dark Tower.
all in all this was a fanominal series, and i was totally blown away by the ending. the end of every book left you squirming for the next book. but i have to say, i was very satisfied with the outcome.
Thursday August 16, 2007 - 2:06 PM
this one fallows Susannah after her and Mia's escape from the Calla so Mia can have her 'Chap'. this one mostly takes place in New York, but also splits off into maine to follow the author himself, Stephen King. we find out King's own role in saving the Dark Tower.
Thursday August 16, 2007 - 2:02 PM
the Ka-tet's journey leads them to a small town, rich with tradition. and not all very good ones. Eddie Susannah Jake and Roland need to help the Calla on their way to save the Beam, and in the process uncover the darker inner workings on the Red King. all the while, Eddie, Jake and Roland have to cope with Susannah's midnight 'hunts' and her 'false' pregnancy.
Thursday August 16, 2007 - 1:50 PM
this one start right after the crash of Blaine the Mono and follows the Ka-tet as they explore a seemingly deserted town. this is where we start to see the lines between world blur, and Roland finally tells the tale of his youth. we find out why he is the way he is what he's given up to follow his Dark Tower.
Thursday August 16, 2007 - 8:35 AM
we get to know Eddie and Susannah better, and gett a deeper look into the man Roland is. and the man he's not quite anymore. he's been losing his mind since he dropped Jake, and he doesn't know it yet, but Jake's been losing his mind New York side too. but in this volume, the Ka-tet finally comes together, to start ka mission to save the dark tower and the beams. the beams are also explained along with their gardians.
Thursday August 16, 2007 - 8:30 AM
and the journey continue! this one starts seemingly hours after Gunslinger, but doesn't. Roland gets attacked by crazy creatures and nearly dies from the experience. then the doors. and behind these mystical doors are new, never before seen worlds... for Roland at least. in this book is when the translations start. when King starts to give us the hints for understanding Rolands long and hard life, but it's really just the tip of the ice burg. this one is more so action packed and this is when things start to get hairy. we meet Eddie, Odetta, and Jake's original killer. he's one messed up fucker tho. this is the begining of the journey to the Dark Tower.
Thursday August 16, 2007 - 8:25 AM
was a bit difficult to get into, this was the first book i'd read of King's. but, once i got past his writing style, i became so engrossed. in this volume the journey was almost endless, all in the pursuit of the Dark Tower and The Man in Black, and there were losses along the the way. but, it ended with a glance into the infinity that is all the possiblities of the universe, and of all universes. a great start to an awesome series
