Okay!

first off, thanks to -all- the deejays for laying it out right and proper!

although the numbers were lacking (damn you, mother earth and the torrential rain), -every- single person that came raved about 'the current dj' that was on.

Shug started the night with an oldschool-yet-darkschool breaks set for the people who lined up at 9:30pm, follow by Trevor Wilkes, who got some of the most timid non-dancers grooving on the dancefloor. Agent Black switched up the mood to a more darker side (akin to Savage's Heritage). By the time B7 was on, -everyone- was grooving on the dancefloor . Patrick DSP, well, not to sound like a snooty promoter (fuck, i despise promoters), impressed everyone with the techno set he laid out.

Jimi Lamort even got ME dancing (i never dance, jesus fuck).. and DJ Shok -destroyed- the end of the night when he played that Horrorist - Flesh Is The Fever remix!

overall, best birthday, musically and friend-wise, that i could ever ask for!

cheers to everyone for braving the storm and coming out / enjoying yourselves smile

i'm continuing to drink right now tongue

first off, a lot of us old-folk who went to all the Citrus events at the Science Centre back in the late 90s, went all neo-nostalgic. hells, i saw a few people who i used to party with wayyy back when (talking 1993ish times).. can't believe they came out!

definate thanks to Newmindspace for bringing back the memories and creating new ones! i wish i wasn't stuck behind the bar til 1am.. but still had a fabulous time with fabulous people!

sidenote:
thanks everyone in the 19+ area for the understanding/great tips/etc.. we were slammed from 10 o'clock onward with no break. all the bartenders did a fabulous job considering the circumstances.. and we appreciated your patience.

another sidenote:
(Sparkle Booth) Kathy + Josh (Jelo) + Ryan (OS2) + Mike (Taipan)? seemed like a Limelight reunion lol

had a good time.mainly relaxed at the Robotpilot booth.

some blips:
some old faces..
some new faces..
loved Opels/Ladybass's sets..
Saiyan actually didn't suck..
Trixie's set was good too
Same as Jaxx's/SpEdFreK
missed Ladius's, but it was probably decent.
rye+cokes = makes hhc sound not too bad..

ps: people are 'mashy' because of the quality of drugs that are prevailent in the 'scene' (or the amount ingested).

took a whack of pics, i'll upload 'em 2morrow or something something.

eye had an effing blast.
bathroom bar music = far better than the main room, by far.

the club has turned into pure clubland/guv-like crowd though. ew.
it's evident in the main room music and the whole club atmosphere. ah well, the company i was with more than made up for it smile

Rob Gee killed it large, such a great stage presence and track selection, plus a nice (non-pretensious) guy!

the staff at VIDA are all good peepoles also, no sketchy Big Bop-type of security.

it was a so-so show.
kavinsky rocked.
the rapture was just bland.
Sebastian should stick to producing.

Daft Punk. well.. during the week, watched a full recording from a concert on their new tour, so i knew what to expect.

what i did -not- expect, was the sound/music being siphoned out to be what it was (pre-recorded and just sounding monotone) and having 2 douchebags in outfits (who may or may not have been the actual artists) just stand there bopping their heads.

giving it a 3 because of the massive crowd all grooving to teh shtunes/everyone enjoying themselves.

not worth the money though, i'd prefer to go to an AD/D party and see/hear the same type of shiz, for a fraction of the cost.

/edit/
and the cliche was fulfilled: They did play One More Time, a second time.

Great Effing Darkrave.

got there at 6:30ish to help setup the Embryon back room. talk about freezing my balls off (<3 the new AC unit).

a whole whack of people started lining up around 8-8:15pm.. and someone had a gee-tar (?).

anyways, stayed in the back room for 90% of the night. so.. yah.

Quito opened the backroom, playing a mixture of tech-house / bigbeat stuffs. fabulous. he tossed on Adam Freeland - We Want Your Soul.. and then i saw Deztro getting setup wink the people dancing were not expecting such a changeover lol

anyways, the whole backroom was fabulous. hats off for Embryon for throwing such a complimenting 2nd room to Darkrave. backroom ended around 4ish, and that's when Jimi LaMorte went on in the front room.

now, Jimi LaMorte (aka Malhavoc) is one of my favourite Djs/Artists of all times. he has diversity/track selection/mixing skills/crowd control. not only that, he has impeccable taste in music. anyways, he closed the night up / getting the 50-100 people left all dancing/grooving to his dark techno/electro/idm/minimal selections. annnd, he played a track i gave him earlier in the day to finish off his set (My Robot Friend - The Fake (Zombie Nation Remix). Talk about perfect ending to a perfect night. /emo

anyways, babble and /bat dance aside, kudos to Lazarus and Embryon for throwing a fabutastic night!

i haven't had that much fun in years.
such friendly/outgoing/non-sketched people who are all there just enjoying themselves implicitly.

happy hardcore hasn't been my cup of tea for awhile but the energy and all around positivity made this jaded r-tard have a fun ole time smile

thanks Hulla for showing how raves used to be.

Cheap and Fun

you know.. i was expecting a little more, as other Embedded events were about quality > quantity.

i brought 5 people over from a club down the street to check out the party.. we walked out after 30 minutes.

albeit the music at the time wasn't our cup of tea at the time; the crowd certainly killed our positive vibe for the night.

not only, as pre-mentioned below, the underagers being inadequately dressed, there also was a rudeness and attitude about the 'general' crowd. i had some 16-year-old fucknut consistently bump into me and be all 'wut wut' in my face. puh-lease. grow some pubic hair and then try to start shit with me k thx.

anyways, Cheap and Fun.. cheap as the truth, fun? meh. maybe if i was more high+more drunk it could have been more fun. we bailed after 30 and hit a bunch of other events/party after (Roger Sanchez spun at some boozecan up on college.. wow that redeemed the night!)

i don't blame the promoter, i blame the crowd. go have a shower. put some deoderant on. then go out into public.

thank you and goodnight!

it was a last minute decision to come out.. and i wasn't disappointed at all!happy (usually i hate going out nowadays, but my god, i LOVED the shtunes!)

my friend mona and i walked up to door (thanks for hookup Teva <3) and saw B7 with Deztro, who was rushing in to spin.

Most Notable:
Deztro's set was definately most pleasurable happy
Saskrotch. what could i possibly say, besides \m/

ran upstairs around 2:30/3ish.. don't know who was spinning that 'oldies' set, but FLASHBACK to 318 Richmond days indeed. haven't heard Prodigy - Ruff (In The Jungle) played out in aons.. as well as a few other favourites from long ago! with dark/dirty atmosphere with minimal 'bling' lights, it totally echo'd what raves used to be.

oh sigh.
thanks for the memories Robotpilot+Crew!

had an alright time.. came for mr Johnny Vella and D.A.V.E. The Drummer. glad the sketchyness wasn't that bad at the party / the kids must be growing up. mainly hung around up front with friends (you know, the oldies, that was us. friends make the night)

overall decent sets. walked in and caught Mr Vella spinning a -great- techno set. 2 pts dood. love Jelo's electro/big beat track selection, got me sorta bopping too.

left during D.A.V.E's set though, due to tiredness. also, the skipping needs every 3-5mins really ruined it. it wasn't due to people being on stage this time. bleh. but whatever! still a 3/5 partay for an oldie moldy like me.

glad to get out of the house to be honest. thanks mona tongue
