Okay!
first off, thanks to -all- the deejays for laying it out right and proper!
although the numbers were lacking (damn you, mother earth and the torrential rain), -every- single person that came raved about 'the current dj' that was on.
Shug started the night with an oldschool-yet-darkschool breaks set for the people who lined up at 9:30pm, follow by Trevor Wilkes, who got some of the most timid non-dancers grooving on the dancefloor. Agent Black switched up the mood to a more darker side (akin to Savage's Heritage). By the time B7 was on, -everyone- was grooving on the dancefloor . Patrick DSP, well, not to sound like a snooty promoter (fuck, i despise promoters), impressed everyone with the techno set he laid out.
Jimi Lamort even got ME dancing (i never dance, jesus fuck).. and DJ Shok -destroyed- the end of the night when he played that Horrorist - Flesh Is The Fever remix!
overall, best birthday, musically and friend-wise, that i could ever ask for!
cheers to everyone for braving the storm and coming out / enjoying yourselves
i'm continuing to drink right now

Great Effing Darkrave.
got there at 6:30ish to help setup the Embryon back room. talk about freezing my balls off (<3 the new AC unit).
a whole whack of people started lining up around 8-8:15pm.. and someone had a gee-tar (?).
anyways, stayed in the back room for 90% of the night. so.. yah.
Quito opened the backroom, playing a mixture of tech-house / bigbeat stuffs. fabulous. he tossed on Adam Freeland - We Want Your Soul.. and then i saw Deztro getting setup the people dancing were not expecting such a changeover
anyways, the whole backroom was fabulous. hats off for Embryon for throwing such a complimenting 2nd room to Darkrave. backroom ended around 4ish, and that's when Jimi LaMorte went on in the front room.
now, Jimi LaMorte (aka Malhavoc) is one of my favourite Djs/Artists of all times. he has diversity/track selection/mixing skills/crowd control. not only that, he has impeccable taste in music. anyways, he closed the night up / getting the 50-100 people left all dancing/grooving to his dark techno/electro/idm/minimal selections. annnd, he played a track i gave him earlier in the day to finish off his set (My Robot Friend - The Fake (Zombie Nation Remix). Talk about perfect ending to a perfect night. /emo
anyways, babble and /bat dance aside, kudos to Lazarus and Embryon for throwing a fabutastic night!

you know.. i was expecting a little more, as other Embedded events were about quality > quantity.
i brought 5 people over from a club down the street to check out the party.. we walked out after 30 minutes.
albeit the music at the time wasn't our cup of tea at the time; the crowd certainly killed our positive vibe for the night.
not only, as pre-mentioned below, the underagers being inadequately dressed, there also was a rudeness and attitude about the 'general' crowd. i had some 16-year-old fucknut consistently bump into me and be all 'wut wut' in my face. puh-lease. grow some pubic hair and then try to start shit with me k thx.
anyways, Cheap and Fun.. cheap as the truth, fun? meh. maybe if i was more high+more drunk it could have been more fun. we bailed after 30 and hit a bunch of other events/party after (Roger Sanchez spun at some boozecan up on college.. wow that redeemed the night!)
i don't blame the promoter, i blame the crowd. go have a shower. put some deoderant on. then go out into public.
thank you and goodnight!
/rob
