Rough start to the night, but it turned out to be the best hardcore party I've ever been too. The few kinks that cause police and shet to show up could have been removed before they happened but it still was awesome. <3

I personally enjoyed myself to the fullest. My friend and I lost our rave virginity that night (attending and spinning for me) and I had a blast. Though I was extremely hot I had a good time dancing and meeting new people. For 10 bucks you got what you payed for. Obviously there is no bar if its all ages. Hope to see you guys soon at next hardcore show!

Tuesday June 30, 2009 - 12:59 PM
my first rave was a purple heaven rave, and obviously unforgetable.
but i am happy about the new management and had a pretty good time. i have most definitely been to really really bad raves ran by people who have been putting on raves for years. For a very reasonable price i had a great time and am pretty impressed (:
Tuesday June 30, 2009 - 12:30 PM
get the fuck over the fact there was no alchohol
the party was all ages
Monday June 29, 2009 - 9:41 PM
Couldn't attend, but the reviews seem to indicate that PH is in good hands. The first time throwing a rave is nothing to sneeze at; everything that you plan for going wrong will, and so will all the stuff you didn't even know COULD go wrong. Handling that well and holding things together is the mark of a solid promoter. I bet they'll be up to speed in no time.
And hey, "Username1," very impressive... anonymous bitching on the internet takes real guts. Another good lesson for the new PH leaders - anybody who won't say what they mean and put their name to it isn't worth listening to anyway. "Username1" just posted a totally ignorable comment.
Happy rave!

some words of advice, when you throw a party, make sure that you have proper equipment, ie. Mixer, the Behringer that was in the white room was not up to par. It's hard to play a good hardstyle set when the sound kept cutting out while we were cueing, and the volume kept fading in and out!! NEVER EVER RENT A BEHRINGER, NEVER. DJM 600 or even better the DJM 800 should have been used.
With that said, and KNOWING that it was pride weekend, you can't go and rent equipment on Friday, and expect to get anything good, if anything at all, thats just careless. when we throw parties, we get our stuff a few days before our party, to make sure that we get what we want, and that the DJ's will have the best equipment possible.
The heat was unbearable, and you should have had industrial sized fans, i was very surprised you didn't, that place gets as hot as a sauna, especially the 2nd room.
Take this as a learning experience.
Monday June 29, 2009 - 3:14 PM
I did this one as a favor to Christian and Dan of course It is true that I actually started Djing at Sunshine Waynes so it has a 'special' if you can call it that place in my heart. I am pretty sure that there were no other places on Earth hotter then that venue. Maybe Lebanon in July. Which is exactly what it felt like.
I was very impressed by the fact that the 2 girls who were running the show- who happened to be almost half my age- were handling alot of the stress left in their lap with a smile on their face. They stayed positive throughout the night! I couldnt take the heat anymore and left at 1.
Now- a further suggestion for possible rental in the future- is that you Absolutely MUST RENT INDUSTRIAL SIZED FANS. Wayne did it back in the day and had 3 running at one point. One little frilly fan in the corner isnt going to do anything. You cant rent a place like 294 College and not have fans in place- unless you are looking for an OD. I had to force some kids outside to get them to go and get air, and even buy water for a couple who looked like they were well on their way to Heat stroke.
The setups were good, but something like not having proper heat control can ruin the whole thing. Thanks to Dan and Gabbo, and the girls- who I never got the names of. My advice would be not to rent this place again unless you are prepared to rent fans. To the defense of the girls running the show- apparently alot was dropped in their lap at the last minute- as the promoter failed to show up at his own event.
Monday June 29, 2009 - 1:01 PM
look i know the girls worked hard and dealt with a lot of shit on the spot well. however...
i can bitch because dark night which i was part of putting on was the night before.
it was a porper venue(im sorry im not into warehouse/non legitamite venues), air conditioning (YES YOU SHOULD EXPECT AC AT A RAVE!!), NO COPS so no fast decsisions had to be made, 2 full bars, and all the dj's were paid IN FULL the moment they walked in the door. sooo ya thats taking care of that. it was awsome check out illuminati ent.
that being said. girls. i know your young and your hearts in the right place so hopefully uve learned a few lessons.
toronto ravers. dealing with heat, cops, and no bars is one thing...but when easy alternatives are available its up to YOU to demand better. this scene has been just 'getting by' for far too long now.
good effort girls, i hope the next one is better for you. and yes you are doing more than most people so please keep them comming. i'd hate that to be the last PH party.
hard work is to be valued, when there is a pay off...working hard for the sake of working hard achieves nothing.
hope that wasnt to negative. its meant to be more of a stiff upper lip and learn! kind of review

Good job, I know how much work must have went into this especially since it was the girls first time throwing a party.
Royce's first set made my night when he played Billy Jean
Just a suggestion for the next time if ANYONE uses this venue. Rent a few [2 or 3 try to put them in all the corners so the dance floor gets a breeze] INDUSTRIAL sized fans for each room. It'll definitely help.
Monday June 29, 2009 - 2:20 AM
I had a great time.
Nice conversations with people and excellent music. Big props for throwing in some Michael Jackson.
The whole this was very well put together. Congratz!
and hey, it was hot, but at least it was a hell of a lot cheaper then spending money to go on an exotic vacation to get the same sort of heat!
Monday June 29, 2009 - 2:11 AM
Definitely wish I could have made it, but it sounds like Sid and Rachel did a great job!
PS - I have thrown a ton of hot, sweaty loft parties. It's hot. Get over it. Canadians spend the rest of the year complaining about the cold
Sunday June 28, 2009 - 11:30 PM
The heat might have been bad, but compared to the Funhaus, it was NOTHING. And those fans were mighty badass.
Great chunez.
Ins and Outs made a HUGE difference
Great venue.
Umm... drunk Andrew Royce talking about religion?
I don't think anything else needs to be said.
Sunday June 28, 2009 - 11:29 PM
Great party guys! i had a great time last night it was my first rave too! it may have sucked because of the air vent issue at first but once the front door was unlocked a cool breeze rode in and it was all good thanks for this guys PLUR!
PS. Great spinning by Ashcore! his HH rocks!
www.djashcore.com - download his newest set
Sunday June 28, 2009 - 10:23 PM

Sunday June 28, 2009 - 10:14 PM
The choonz were bangin', at least.
Sunday June 28, 2009 - 9:13 PM
this party was like wii fit
Sunday June 28, 2009 - 4:10 PM
I know all the people and the hard work that went into making last night happen, and I must say that I am very very impressed.
Purple Heaven is in good hands ^_^
RollsRoyce spun a bangin' electro set, and although it was extremely hot and humid throughout the night, it just added to the nostalgia I had from seeing another PH party go down.
Sunday June 28, 2009 - 3:51 PM
Pretty bomb first party. The heat was expected and it was a rave, it's not like you can expect air conditioning.
Hopefully we see more in the future from PH?
Sunday June 28, 2009 - 3:06 PM
It was great, Im not a raver but I've been to some pretty sweaty concert's, so the venue wasnt that bad.
The best part of the night was probably when I made out with the chick on that person's car...I want to see those pictures! : )
Sunday June 28, 2009 - 2:49 PM
Partied hard while there, good shit. Ya ya, it was hot, lesson learned. Good job.
FuzzBoy, Dingo. God damn. Fuckers. ^_^
Sunday June 28, 2009 - 1:59 PM
I had a really good time =]
Yes it was hot and sweaty, but it's not like Sid and Rachel could control that.
For your 1st rave girls. Amazing, Just amazing <3
I couldn't believe how you guys were just running around making sure everything was going right and making fast decisions when cops came and when everything.
I really have faith that the next event will be amazing.
And people need to not bitch about how the venue was sweaty.
It wasn't the bop, and everyone bitches about how all the events are there, yet when you get another event you bitch as well.
For anyone whos going to bitch.
Put your own fucking rave on and then you can come talk.
Anyways, can't wait for the next one
Sunday June 28, 2009 - 11:52 AM
The venue owner wants to work with us all again, and was much happier with how we did business compared to previous people who had used the venue.
Firstly, It's Sunshine Wayne's...so it held a bit of Nostaglia.
The kids complained about the Heat in there...but really - we've all been to much much worse. What do you expect? It's not a club.
THe Sound was put together the final day - because that's all we had. The girls who put this together learned a lesson on depeding on someone who is unreliable. I helped them go to scarborough and get the only sound system left in Toronto (it's pride/canada day weekend...there's NOTHING left anywhere since friday)..
The turnout was decent, but once the cops came- a lot of people left. However, the cops were great. As the person who signed for the venue, the wanted to talk to me.
They took my info, but told me straight up "We're not here to ruin your fun. We only got a noise complaint. The major complaint is the noise from the people in the alley from the nearby residents, not the noise inside It's a fun weekend, and you guys are all adults (lol), so we're going to let you be."
the major issue was the crowding of the people in the back Alley. However, since there's the SUBA entrance right beside the main street entrance for the Gallery, There's no heat!!!! There's already 500 people on their sidewalk
However, some guy who was sent by christian to "help with things" was a 19 year complete fucking old moron. He kept on giving wrong directions and making bad decisions He was adamant about the crowd using the back door, despite the venue owners suggestions not to
Once the crowd entrance moved to the front - there was absolutely no issue. we ran till 3:30, and called it off...but people would have went till 4-5 if we let them.
That being said, i'm proud of the hard work and effort that the girls put into this event. They took their own personal losses to ENSURE that that the DJs get paid. I'd be lying if i said the previous management of PH did the same. The stuck through it, and made their best possible effort that they could, and for that they deserve an hand.d
Sunday June 28, 2009 - 10:50 AM
This party was shit. Never go to another Purple heaven again.
Sunday June 28, 2009 - 5:41 AM
despite a few set backs i still enjoyed myself. since this party was a first for the people throwing it i hope they gained some experience and it makes their next event even better.
ventilation was a major issue, definitely take that into consideration when picking the next venue. but it was still nice to get a break from the bop.
still, like i said i had a shit ton of fun anyways.
Sunday June 28, 2009 - 2:53 AM
This party had a lot of potential, but no ventilation in the venue, the sound cutting out on me, and the actions of a stupid cocksucker severely detracted from my overall enjoyment.
Still, I've gotta give the new PH crew credit for holding it together even with all the shenanigans that went on. Good job guys. I look forward to whatever you guys do next.
