crowds are unpredictable and i knew that BEFORE the event, but i didnt expect THAT many people though i dont care still enjoyed it, got maaad random footage!!!!!!! the only thing that went wrong is it being on a friday night where kids find some fascinating obligation to be irresponsibly intoxicated.

Clearly there were more people there than they expected and yes I understand that these types of events are supposed to be more free-form and less structured, but that doesn't excuse the organizers showing up less than 10 minutes before it was supposed to start.
If you are responsible for accumulating a large crowd of people in a downtown area then you are responsible for keeping that crowd in some semblance of order. There was literally zero crowd control which could have lead to serious injury and as it is it did get a bit out of hand.
The police are not going to allow these kinds of events to continue if the organizers don't get a better grasp on how to manage the crowds.

I loved it! It was so much fun. The only problem I found-but its something that cannot be prevented-was that there were many drunk people, and it was these people who were violent, rude, pushy and just plain assholes.

A good effort; a ridiculous turnout!
For those of you who froze, that would only be because you chose not to dress properly on what was obviously a rather frigid evening.
The battle lasted much longer than 10 minutes, there was just so much chaos everywhere. It turned into a bloodfest!
The location was not ideal, and a physical contact event can easily turn violent.
An event such as this, if it were to ever be repeated, would require a large field.... or desert.
Someone thought that it would be funny to intentionally hit my glasses and camera repeatedly. I hope my fist and head taught him a lesson.

Meant to start at 9 (or 9:30?). The sabers were distributed at 10:15ish.
Wayyy too many people. Not their fault, but it lead to DANGEROUS CROWDS
I got a saber around then...
I got shoved around a lot, my shoe was untied and I was being literally PUSHED a long the crowd and all I could do what go with them... Someone snapped my saber before I got out of the crowd, even.

The sabers didn't even glow. Unless you were right beside the black light. Because the location was way too bright.
And my plans for before hand failed
Over all a disappointing night.

1,000 blacklight-reactive, meter-long cardboard tubes will be distributed in front of the Royal Ontario Museum
They delivered exactly what they promised, and it was free.
Having a huge crowd isn't exactly anyone's fault. You can't say some people can be there and others can't.
These sorts of events are experimental and unfold in their own way, its part of the fun.
What they aren't, is some corporate organized and structured event with strict rules and procedures. You definitely came out to the wrong thing if that is what you were expecting.

it wasnt fun at all people were soooo cluttered into one small space the uv lightss couldnt even get them all i spent most of the time in mc donalds a better party was there.

first time goin to this battle even though had to wait almost for hour and a half, freezin ma ass off,it was worth it it was fun saw bunch of ma friends that havent seen for a while
got a bunch of ppl's lifesavers broked in a half with one hit lol
well at the end i didnt c any not broken lifesavers exept mine lol well i wish they will throw more event like that in down town even though its gonna be cold the body heat from all the ppl that come will keep u warm

This event was a total flop. I was anticipating one of the best events of the year, but it ended up being the absolute worst. Huge letdown. Too many people - it became ridiculously crowded. It was disorganized and didn't start up until almost an hour after it was supposed to. And then, it was hardly a lightsaber battle - it was too crowded to have anything half decent.
Two thumbs down.
