I have to agree with Greg that that was the most fun I have had at a gig for a while now. The crowd was really up for it, and the promotional team did at excellent job running the show.

Cheers to Chris for the 10 minute Torque crash course beforehand. For the first time in my career as a DJ I did not play a single piece of vinyl. This scares me a bit, but I think I sounded decent using Torque.

Huge props to everyone else from the Bassteaser camp, our old friends and new faces, and special props go out to the guy who pawned off his Xbox to come see us play (I forgot your name but I still owe you a beer!!)

Peace,
Adam

Without a doubt, that was the most fun I've had playing a party in over a year and a half. Thanks to the Bassteasers for having us out and putting on a first class event.

The decor, the system, the people, the tunes... it all came together.

Adam and I look forward to coming back happy

Definitly an amazing party, well put together, loved the sound and decor.

Stayed downstairs for the night, really had no need to be anywhere else.

Adam & Greg, I was so happy to hear about this party last minute and see you play, it had been too long, and you are always better then the last time. Looking forward to your next set.

Cynex, not only did you(and everyone else) grant me a much needed enjoyable night, you also performed an amazing set, thank-you!

Bacchus, you are the man, must be hard to be the last set, but you did well to change the music around, I loved every track.

Met some interesting people and saw old faces, and had a nice ride around with randoms, and went home to pass out all day.

Proper Review time!

The day started with a fresh coffee made by Darcy. he was the first one up and ready to go. shortly after Jeff, Darcy, and I piled into the van to begin the adventure.

All day everything went smoothly thanks to everyone workin hard! While we were running around Darcy and I couldn't help but lead chris on that everything was chaos and not going properly at all. sorry bud it's cause we love ya!

When we arrived at the venue everyone just got right to it and set that place up with time to spare. Sped Frek gave us a hand by playin some techno while we set up, thanks dood!

Boxing Kangaroo yer going to bring back the true old school vibe!!

Destructo, Nice and funky I liked it as always when you spin.

I am sorry Lair Driver I could not catch any of your set. I can't wait till you get me the remade mix. thanks for the CD!

Andy Holtz. Once again it was fucking awesome spinning with you. Dirty beats served with a side of funk.

Conradi, I love how you build your sets. everytime I came to check out your set it got dirtier and funkier.

Jaxx & Elixir. Just like chocolate and peanut butter. Meant to be together.

Nu era, lets blame me for putting you on at the same time as beat freakers, with the second room closing at 3 we had to make some tough decisions. A nice old school trance vibe.

Beat Freakers, OMG!!! This was the first time I have seen them play out to be honest. Welcome to the top of my favorites list. you started dirty and went UP from there.

Cynex, The beat freakers hit em hard and dirty you hit them hard and fast, what a way to follow up.

Bacchus, Awesome transition. It was fun watching you and Jaxx during your set. GOOD TIMES!!

--Shout Outs--
FIRST OFF! To everyone that showed up. THANK YOU. We set the stage, it was you that danced. You guys made the party what it was.

To all the setup crew, thanks for your hand in getting the place ready so quickly and efficiently. You guys added your special touch.

Jeff Big shouts to you! thanks for the added lighting and sound!! A big part of what made the night too.

Bobbi and Garth! Fucking awesome Deco. I am crossing my fingers you can do the next one. I totally understand your wedding is more important. you will be back for other rounds though. Hurry up and get married already!!!

Jordan, Damn dood that was THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE!!! you took door ALL night and weren't even asked to. A totally selfless act. BE THE WALL!!!

Last and most certainly not least.
Chris and Darcy. Two thirds of the BassTeasers. you know we just made our job harder for the next one. Baby Steps.

I HAD A FUCKING BLAST!!!!

awesome night!!!!

the decor was awesome.. and the bubbles!! wow i had too much fun with those i think.. and hell downstairs was so cool with the red lighting.. superb job with that

the music was Great!!.. i dunno who it was but when i arrived there were all these remixes of old jungle tracks.. fun fun.. and then Jory and Jaxx really hadthe whole floor moving.. so many older songs..you could just sense the smiles on people's faces all around..and ahahah jory dropped "rythm is a dancer"... ahahah.. love goooood times.. beatfreakers were wicked as well.. but then again they always are..

the staff at the place was really nice.. security guards were really respectful and patient and did a great job making sure nothing got out of hand.. and the bar staff was cool and it was great that they offered free water glasses..

and the crowd. WOW so many familiar friendly faces everything.. so many people dancing.. the energy was totally there.. and it made the party.. love
good seeing so many friends from out of town too smilehappy
a friend's gf came out to an electronic music event for her first time and though she doenst listen to the stuff normally.. she loved it cause the atmosphere was so great

As you can see from the pictures, the roof was literally torn off the place.

I do my damndest to make every Beat Freakers set possible and let me tell you they once again DID NOT DISSAPOINT. When they took the decks the place literally exploded! I feel really bad for headliner New Era upstairs. No one should have to play against the Beat Freakers.. it just isn't fair. smile They dropped some new tracks and left everyone literally begging for more!

Of course, it wasn't too tough to whip the crowd into a blind frenzy with the awesome vibe that was permeating the party from wall to wall. The DJs kept the energy up through the entire night and man did they lay it down!

This promotion company is definately on to something here.. I hope other promoters start taking notice! There isn't too many visible 19+ promotions that are this dedicated to keeping an old school vibe.

Looking forward to you guys making my November!!!

Monday August 27, 2007 - 9:49 AM

!*Cynex*!

Wow, what can i say, other than this was amazing. we were so worried we had overspent, and that we wouldnt break even...but...we did, and just a little more, not much..but just enough to give us momentum to strive for better for the next time...we're all quite ecstatic...and words have already been spoken about the next event...most likely november.

Beat Freakers...what can i possibly even say that could do it any justice...SO fucking awesome...you guys tore the roof off...its been a while since ive seen a crowd making waves going to the beat. everyone was jumping and in such great spirits...I knew you guys would be just what the party needed, and we'd be glad to have you out again.

Jaxx 'n' Elixir, you too had the place bumpin and jumpin up on the top floor...i think you guys along with Kevin and Darcy before ya really set the mood for the night. old classics and a whole lotta funk, great job guys, always good to see you.

Nu Era, great job man...your track selection was awesome... sorry you had to be on at the same time as the beatfreakers, its just how the cards landed...but your crew deffinitely kept you bumpin up there, even with only 20-30 people up there, you had such a smile on your face the whole time...deffinitely have to have you out again smile

Lairdriver, good set bro...glad to see you out as always, threw down an good set...sorry to see you had to take off so early...we should get together and chat sometime soon...its been too long.

Mike Conradi, thanks for comin out man, your such a great guy with so much talent, glad to have you out, wish we'd have known you were bringing a cdj tho...we totally could have made some space for it ahead of time...oh well smile great set as always

Bacchus, great job keeping things going till the very end...it was fun to hear you playing something out of your norm too.

Boxing Kangaroo, wow bro. ive never seen you stick a party out till the very end...ever. thanks again for the support and great job on the decks bro, your getting better every time i hear you.

Destructo, thanks again for everything bro...glad to see you stuck it out till the very end too...thanks for all your help setting up and warming things up proper smile

Andy Holtz & Monophonic : good job boys, you deffinitely got the upstairs pumped up...we're makin it happen...step by step. lets keep this shit rollin.

Shout outs to all the crew ! :

I first want to thank Jeff for the tremendous support with lighting and sound, and sticking it through with us the whole day as we went about the pre-party chaos, Bobbi and Garth for great deco work as always...you guys are true partiers, through and through. Jordan my man...you rock. thanks SO much for taking over the door for us. you really didnt have to do that but your a bro for doing it...glad to see you had a great time smile my heads still spinning in circles over what transpired so i know im missing alot of names here, but your help and support was truly appreciated. Final shout outs to Marie, you kept me positive about things even when i was stressed out of my head. your amazing in every aspect. muah

And thanks to you all for your support !!! You made it possible for this to happen again...it was great to see the breaker crowd out...its been a couple years i think since ive seen so many of the old-schoolers all in one place...hope to see you all out again for the next one smile mad love and respect.

Saturday Night was good. Bassteasers did a bang-up job on throwing a jam. One of the two most professional promoters i've ever worked for. I really wish I'd see more people with this kind of worth ethic in the all ages events, and there'd be hope for the scene.

Beat Freakers put on a great show, with track after track of floor killing tunes. A few original tunes that blew the floor off completely. They had the room packed and dancing their ass off. One of my favorite sets that they've played, that's fore sure.

The bar staff and security at Opium were uber friendly, and great to deal with.

I'd like to appologize for not bringing out the hardstyle as planned. When I stepped on the decks at four, the vibe was chilling out a little and people had already started leaving. I started off with trance that I had, and they loved it at first, but it really wasn't keeping the crowds. So i ended up playing some breaks and house, which surely kept peoples feet moving.

Good to see Brit, Che & his girl, Adam and many other people.

Thanks to Bassteasers for the great event, and I look forward the next!

this was one night i was truly excited for.

chris and kevin have always been good friends and i was really honored when they asked me to play thier second event, not too mention getting a chance to play with elixir, hes one of the true trance djs ive always looked up to
got into toronto around 7ish and headed to labros's for some chill time with brenda and rob, good convo's, laughs were had and a few beers drank
left and headed up to the venue around 10ish, and after paying 20$ (!!!) to park, headed in the check out the venue.
what a great decorating job!!! the lower level definately made me think Hell, and the rooftop semi covered patio was setup amazingly, even complete with blowing bubbles!
i love showing up a bit early to catch some of the opening acts and heres a brief synopsis of what i caught

finally sat down and caught a bit of Lairdriver - some nice techno to get the night moving, sounded great downstairs as well! nicely done bud
headed upstairs and caught a good chunk of Monophonic and andy holtz. great tunes from these two!!!definately had my toes tapping!!

finally myself and elixir got a chance to drop some tracks, aside from wanting to toss that vestex table off the patio, we pereserved and managed to slam out all sorts of singles ranging from hatiras to scot project. had a great time playing with him and i hope we get a chance to pull out round 2 sometime in the future.
the pictures really say it all too me. lots of smiling faces and a rammed dancefloor. no dj could ask for more

after we wrapped up, i headed back downstairs to catch the beat freakers. and again, they pleased my soul for the night. delicious house music, perfectly mixed, and also thanks for signing my cd! lol
they slammed out track after track of pure awesome. and i danced untill my heart was content.

cynex laid out a solid set following the BF's and played some solid hard trance + some of his own original remixes that were pure awesome...phil collins..wut!!
and then bacchus sent me home happy by playing some hard trance, down to breaks and some house as well...nicely done bud!

i have to say chris and kev and 2 of the BEST promoters ive had a chance to play for, and i wish them all the best on future endeavor's. if these 19+ parties are any indication on where the toronto scene is going, great things are in store for the city for sure!!!

Beings

Took a while to get going. Initially till 1am, few people were dancing downstairs, a lot of bystanders upstairs too. But after 1 the music and the energy finally caught up with the crowd, and everything fell into place. Incredible nite, awesomme music, great people. I had a blast.

My only wish is that they did not have to close at 5, an amazing nite like this needs to keep on going and going!

Showed up at about 11- right before I played. I have great timing, the Gardiner for some reason is down to 1 lane everynight-all summer siesta style. Everytime I drive by I see one guy walking around!! Traffic sucks.

Got to the door and was greated with a handshake and an envelope. A little sidebar, that is a really professional thing to do. Everyone should be doing that! The mixer was brand new DJM 800- which is an amazing mixer. Unfourtunately I dont want to sell an organ on the black market for one!! Well with that mixer you get what you pay for thats for sure!!

They also had Torque set up, but since I had only used it once before- I forgot how to cue up the tracks I had. Even though Cynex helped me load em on!! Bad me. I recorded all sorts of tracks to play at the party too. I actually had a little bit of hard time hearing the monitor, I used back up headphones. Sadly my other headphones were STEPPED ON at a under-the bridge party a couple of weeks ago. Some drunken fatty stepped on them!

I played a slower set then usual - I noticed the real action was upstairs !! We still had some people downstairs though. Mike Conradi came on next and started tearing it up with Breaks. I didnt stay for long because my ride came early. I checked upstairs though, I beleive Elixir/Jaxx were playing. There were alot of people upstairs thats for sure. I would say that party was a success, I regret not being able to stay longer.

Thanks Bassteasers for having me out!
