To the comment above. Maynard doesnt have self esteeme issues, he just doesnt give a fuck. LOL
Second time i saw them live. Same thing again. Isolating from the audience, but hey. Thats maynard. And i love him.

this show was everything one should expect of tool. adam jones' background is in video, he's done visual effects for movies as big as jurassic park so it's no surprise that the visuals were amazing. heavy fog provided an amazing canvas for the lasers. the sound was amazing especially considering the size of the venue. the version of lateralus they played was amazing, several minutes of some of the best drumming i've been fortunate enough to observe. yes the vocals were quiet compared to other shows, this is deliberate. maynard sees his voice more as another instrument that compliments the bands sound, why should it by higher in the mix than the other instruments? if you want to see a show that focuses more on maynards vocals then see a perfect circle, i assure you, self esteem is no issue for maynard. the only thing that i wasn't entirely pleased with was the set list, but then every fan will have a different ideal set list so i can't be overly upset about it. can't wait for the show on the 9th.

For those who want to go see Tool, this is my advice:
Save your $100. Instead, put a Tool CD into your computer and stare at your Windows screen saver for two hours.
The band just stands there, the only thing that makes the show interesting is the light show, which was intense and well put together. But I think if you're not a huge fan of Tool's music, you won't be all that entertained by seeing them live.
It wasn't a BAD show. Seeing Maynard silhouetted by the crazy screen and lights was kinda rad. Security were assholes, as usual. Beer wasn't too expensive. It was decent.
