I loved the breaks set, really the only set I danced to other than my lovely Amanda's...
Got to bring in the new year with a lot of familiar faces, love you guys! heart
And I dipped out just as the ceiling started raining! Though I couldn't seem to escape the sweat rain on the stairs oh well

Wow, just WOW!

Goodfellaz amazing.
NC, be carefull or I'll never expect any less.

Party rocked, people were great, music is still thrumming through my skull now and again!

New venue, well, for it being new it went well. Though I guess any time we can cause it to rain in the stairwell it's gotta qualify as epic!

Great party, sick toons, great sets especially by lucy ford and mr. brown. Spent most of my time upstairs due to the heat but it was great in both rooms

I got to say for my first Goodfellaz party this was pretty good. I really enjoyed the music, more so upstairs then down stairs.

As stated by many other people the heat in the place was a problem, by the end of the night, or should I say morning. I couldn't keep the sweat from going in my eyes it was so hot but that was only due to the awesome Dj's keeping me movin.

I also got to meet a lot of people from the PR community this time around which was great. Totally unexpected since I didn't have a clue I'd end up at Kenya Dig it since I was helping Wendy Law out with pics over at Destination: 2007 before hand durring her set.

Great night guys, thanks again.

I was doing "security" downstairs, and I just wanted to thank everyone for being great!! Next time I wont work and just party. *Next time I'll make a segestion and hopefully we'll leave the doors open so more air will flow through the basement floor.

Excerpt from my chronicle of the evening:

"The line progressed along further, and I was getting closer and closer to the door. If it was my turn to go in, and I didn't have a ticket, there would be problems. Suddenly, a fellow in what appeared to be a beekeeping outfit walked down the line asking people if they needed to buy a ticket.

Me: "How much?"
Him: *grins* "How much are you willing to spend?"
Me: "I want to pay the price of the ticket."
Him: "$30? Fine. Come with me."

He rushed me ahead of everyone in the line and brought me inside. He then told the girl at the desk that I'd be getting in on his spare ticket, she stamped my hand, and I payed him. I was in!

I had one minor issue with the security- I couldn't tkae my monopod in. Understandable, I guess, since it could -technically- be used as a club, but whatever. It was held for safekeeping and all was good.

I scoped out the area.

Upstairs was a chilled environment where throughout the night they'd be playing drum n' bass, breaks, house, hard dance, and techno.

Downstairs was pretty much a stricly Hardcore/Happy Hardcore area, and was a sweatbox.

Despite the heat, I spent a good deal of my night downstairs as Hardcore/Happy Hardcore is really fun to dance to.

Some notable sets were (these are just the ones that I remember off of the top of my head):

Mil b2b Dynamic (USA)
[NAHM, Happyhardcore.com, Nocturnal Commissions- Syracuse/Buffalo, USA]
***Special Midnight Anthems Set***
Happy Hardcore

Come on. Anthem? Epic!

Jiminicricket (USA)
[Seattle, USA]
Happy Hardcore

Bacchus b2b Mannik
[Airhead, Big Kahuna]
Breaks

Mr. Brown
[2theBeat]
Drum N Bass

Flim
[Goodfellaz Crew, Blackmoon, www.DJFLIM.com]
Techno! Techno! Techno!

I met up with tons of my friends, who were all very glad that I could make it.

I was glad, too. happy At one point I left to my car to go and put on some Safari-themed makeup. I did myself up at a Catkins completely with eyeliner. It was cute. :3

I took lots of photos 300'ish individual shots, roughly half with flash and half without. Partway through, when the hardcore room was really heating up, I had some technical difficulties. My camera's lens was fogging up big time. I had to keep wiping off the lens, and when I changed lenses (from 50mm 1.8 to 17mm-75mm 2.8-4.5 Macro) I had to wipe the internal glass of the lens too. I was fiddling around with my camera a lot after that, wiping the lens, taking a photo, wiping the lens again. My glasses also fogged up a lot.

The lens fogging caused some pics to turn out like this:

I partied hard, and was on my feet for what, 9 hours? I didn't even feel it, except an hour before the end, when I realized that the part went on until 6:00am.

"What?! There's still another hour? What'm I going to do for another hour?"
"We-ell... Want some K?"
"What? No. I'm going to be driving home in an hour"
"It'll be gone by then"
"I don't truuuuust it"
"Want a coke?"
"That would be nice"

I didn't get a coke, but rather a red bull. I had had anything to eat or drink all night, and then I had a red bull. Wow. That filled me with energy. I was dancing up a storm for the last 45 minutes or so of the party.

I also had danced earlier for the entire duration of FLIM's set, from 4:00am-5:00am. Techno techno techno! The man's music makes me happy.

Some rave/party classic were dropped, by the way. At this point, I forget the names of many of them, but here's a sample:

tarantula
fasten your seatbelts
hey jude (take a sad song and make it HARDCORE!)
a classic prodigy track (whose name eludes me atm)
shooting star
poison

and the night ended with a whack, HappyHardcore mix of Blue (da ba dee).

I have about 90 of them loaded into my PR folder, but apparently I've reached my photo limit for the month, and cannot upload further."

Well I'd first like to say a big thanks to Goodfellaz and NC for having me out for my first ever New Years jam. It was definatley a night to remember. The venue was rammed and the vibe was great! It is very refreshing to see people that are at a party...to party and not other random shit! Only caught Xofer's and Opel & Lady Bass's set and they were both outstanding! My set was in fact a lot of fun and thanks to all for the kind words. Locked....you are a bad man! Very good click indeed! All in all this night was in my eyes a sucess! Cant wait for the next jam and hope to be a part of it!
Peace!

What a Fantastic night!

I had been comming down with cold just after Christmas, and tired to rest up as much as possible for this evening. Ended up heading down at about 10:30, and getting there for the end of Lucy Ford & Mz Lee. Chris James &Eklektic Dyslexik continued the pumpin' vibe with some fantastic breaks and house. As did the Beat Freakerz.

I spent 98% of my time upstairs, and only went downstairs to use the washroom facilities. All the DJs upstairs played amazing. My favorite sets though are awarded to the ones like Lady Bass & Opel, xofer's and mr brown's. But it's really unfair to call those the best, as everybody simply kicked ass.

The quality of this event was TOP NOTCH, and definately sets a standard for 2007. A standard, that's going to be hard for people for beat. Having a new venue was amazing. The staff were all increadible. Great security, Great bartenders, which only contributed positively to the awesome vibe that was this NYE.

I had a blast partying with all my house mates, who were people who haven't been out to a rave since the height of the scene (in both North America and Australia). They ALL loved it. Everybody commented on how that WAS a rave. The atmosphere, the vibe, the music and the condenstation from the ceiling.

5 out of 5 stars.

Big thanks to NC & Goodfellaz for a spectacular event, and for the chance to play!

Great Job Goodfellaz & NC.

I always love playing with Mizz Lee & Lucy Ford.

I do apologize for not sticking around for Mr.Brown's set, to be honest at that point i was so exhausted from 4 straight days of performances that i could barely keep my eyes open, my lady threw me in a cab and i went home and passed out before 3am even hit.

I had a blast while i was there.

I can't wait for the next collaboration.

Biggup everyone and have a safe and happy new year!

Wow, amazing party, amazing music - everything turned out as awesome as we could've possibly expected!

I'd been really sick for the past 4-5 days, so I was terribly worried about my set (I'd been hiding in a corner with my eyes closed for about 2.5 hours trying to get better), but as soon as Jules and I started rocking out, the adrenaline kicked in, and everything went pretty smoothly. It was a really fun set, but it seemed to go buy WAY too quickly... I'd really like to do it again happy

Big ups to the Goodfellaz Crew, your people and our people really did a great job together! I look foward to our next collaboration (whenever that may be... not that plans are semi-kinda-perhaps-possibly in the workswink), and bigs ups to the rest of NC for all your hard work too!

My favourite set of the night was prolly Mrs. Jimni's, I only wish I had been able to stand for it! I loved - actually, I loved every set, so there's no point in listing them off - I will mention that I definitely enjoyed Brak's wide range of style - I discovered the medicinal properties of Another Planet, as I felt fine for 5 minutes tongue

Thanks again to all your ravers that came out to support, you did the Goodfellaz and everybody here and NC headquarters proud! heart

Tuesday January 02, 2007 - 1:56 AM

kudos on another great party heart

Beatfreakers were great, but Mr. Brown's set wow holy shit! that was siiiiick!

ceilings dripped on me a little too often and the coatcheck lady looked so overwhelmed, otherwise TOP NOTCH!

dj_saiyan

I decided last minute to attend, and thanks to some good luck and some help from a couple friends (Ryan and Jen, I owe you guys one tongue) I was able to make it.

And holy fuck am I ever glad I did. Every single set was straight bangin', from beginning to end, although the standouts for me were (in no particular order):

Mannik and Bacchus
Mizz Lee and Lucy Ford w/MC Flybry
Brak
Jimni Cricket
Psyklone and Lou Cabrasi
Leela and E.N.D.

The venue was excellent. The drinks were fairly priced (and the bartenders heavy handed), the sound was great with the exception of some small issues downstairs that were eventually sorted out, the security was friendly and easy to deal with, and the temperature was bearable.

Most of today's ravers haven't had the pleasure of experiencing places like Stardust, so to them the heat in the basement was hot almost to the point of being unbearable. Me, I spent most of the night wearing a long sleeved shirt, a t-shirt, a hoodie, jeans and a touque and though I was sweating my balls off, I wasn't particularly uncomfortable.

All in all it was a great night put on by great people. The team of Goodfellaz and Nocturnal Commissions worked exceptionally well together. If our scene is to survive its current slump we are going to need more collaborations (and solo events) of this calibre.

Kudos to everyone involved. See you all at Tag Back. smile

I had an awesome time. It's nice to see a new venue, especially one that nice. The temperature was a bit much in the basement, and the room was sweating all over the place. All the sets were fantastic! My favorites of the night would be :Brak, Jimni Cricket, Leela & END, and Tyco & Dave. It was one hell of a NYE...

Monday January 01, 2007 - 2:08 PM

DAVEoftheRAVE

Wow.

We had so much energy in there we blew a fuse!

That was truely epic. Hardcore parties always work best in a cozy intimate environment, and of course with the happiest ravers!

My only problem was that I was completely torn as to which room to be in.

I spent most of the night listening to the sets in both rooms as everything was fantastic!

Only happy vibes too!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and had a great time and made this a perfect New Year's Eve.

I couldn't think of any better way to spend it than with my 300 closest friends.
