I can't believe it hasn't been busted...
Park n Party was a blast!! Congratulations to Uberave and everyone else who contributed. Can't wait to see what's next.
It was good seeing everyone there. Tim Horton's was crazy! Walking the streets of downtown with a mobile rave was definitely new for me. My feet are still sore.
It was a shame my friend, who lived only a block or so from the 'venue' was working the late shift. I think he'd have had a great time.
LEDs and magnets are cool
Oh yeah, and just for Ahmed, I'm going to try to rave a little more next time. ::tongue::

Nothing went according to plan but I don't think it could have been any better.

Things turned out absolutely amazing.
Despite all of the minor setback and group-breakups, moral was high as we made our way to the final destination for the night. This night had it all, from the beautiful rainbow of coloured LEDs, to the "Chickenshit streetcar driver", the Tim Horton's Rave, the "rave in aisle six", the Charlie Brown Christmas (that small tree in the middle of the street), to the improv dj table made from a "keep right" sign and a couple of waste bins. Wow, I was impressed.
Here is a wealth of photos from last night:

Huzzah!
I had a great time. Definately wasn't sketchy at all (relatively speaking).
It was a lot of fun to play a lot of crazy stuff. The atmosphere was perfect for randomly changing things up. I hope everyone enjoyed the music!
I was very sick and the dust was bothering me so I didn't hate you if I didn't talk to you much, I was just having difficulties.
See you all at Kenya Dig It?! and the Countdown!
Happy Rave!

Wow... so much positive feedback. We're absolutely delighted . Thank you so much to everyone who came out, everyone who waited in the frigid cold (sorry about making you wait so long), and everyone that made this party fucking amazing. And big thanks especially to the guy who lent us his chill space for this event - you're wonderful.
The DJs were simply smashing, rocking out on the two upturned garbage cans and a board that were set up in lieu of a table! The crowd also brought a great vibe! The party seemed to bring out a lot of first time party-goers (which kicks ass), I hope to see you all again at the NEXT uberave (oh yes)!
And thanks once again to everyone for being so respectful of the space and helping to clean up when we left - totally appreciated.

The sketchyest night EVER. lmfao.
First waiting for the "Big U" at st.George station for an hour, then hearing the party was shut down and opening again under a bridge, going to tim hortons for coffee, sitting in a parking garage for heat, half my friends leaving randomly, and coming back to the parking garage with the amp and some banging music.
Uberrave, good work. <33

We met up at justin's house to put the lights together. They were LED's attatched to a watch battery and magnet. Played a few records, had a few drinks and headed down to spadina and queen. There was at least 150 people there, on ONE street corner. It wasn't long before the fuzz showed up. Well, Aron fuzz showed up...but i mean 5-0 Fuzz. We handed out the lights and crowded the platform, filling the streecar with hundreds of LED lights. A second streetcar came northbound, and that one was decorated as well. A third streetcar came south, and was mildly decorated with whatever fell off the others.
It was insane. I kept on thinking to myself, how soon before riot police come by. It's too fucking cold for water cannons. They had stopped traffic southbound and northbound on Spadina Ave. A huge crowd of people dancing on the platform and streetcar tracks (yeah, smart eh?) After a while I see the one cop comming through the crowd asking who's in charge of this thing. I tell him I have no clue, and I just wanna go home. I asked him when the streetcar was going to be back up, and he said as soon as everybody gets off the platform, that this was too much of a safety hazzard. So spreading that word, the trek was made upto the mappoint for the park 'n party, as we couldn't take the streetcar there. Trekked up with shannon, who smokd me a fantastic bowl of greenage, and then headed to the map point.
Holy Heatbag city. about 75 kids standing on the corner of St. George and Bloor. Word comes around that both venues on campus got busted. So, we trekked down bloor ot the tim horton, to grab a coffee. Many ravers had the same idea. The 75 or so kids come in the Tim Hortons with a guitar amp hooked up to an iPod on a trolly. A rave breaks out in Timmy Ho's. Wtff? The manager stands on the chair and screams that everybody has to leave now, as this was a restaurant. We stay in line to grab our coffes and drink them in the shelter of the cold that was this evening. A police officer comes in, who must have answered a call. He asks the cashier what happened. The cashier was of spanish decent and proclaimed that a bunch of kids came in and started dancing to loud music. The cop didn't really seem like he cared and actually kind of mocked her. He responded with "What's wrong? You didn't enjoy it? Was it not your kind of music?" I almost spit my coffee out.
We look around to see people not involved in the evening with LED's in there hand. (they must have grabbed them off the streetcar when they got off at Spadina station, which we were next to).
So we finish our coffee's and head down to Justin's place nearby, where the party has continued in his appartment. As we arive, we find out that the ravers from tim hortons found a nearby parking garage that was three stories down. You needed a key to get in by car, but there was a broken down door at a very visible location.
We head down and kids are going nuts to music on an iPod. Justin decides to go home and get his gear, and a few of us decide to run to Ferkins and grab a few pitchers before last call. That, was a great call. Got hammered and then went back down to the party which was surprisingly still going.
The tables were set up and people were dancing hard. There was HHC playing, and I realized I had mostly breaks. I scrounged up three jungle records that drove people nuts. So much fun. Next three i slowed it down to breaks a bit. I got pretty stoned thanks to nick, and had a blast playing those records. Headed home at about 10 to four, thinks were dying down...
Saturday December 09, 2006 - 12:07 PM
for all the sponantious stuff and for the fact that we ended up going into a parking garage and throwing a rave? i give you five stars Uberave.
Saturday December 09, 2006 - 11:49 AM
WOW! Missioning back and forth aside, this totally ROCKED. Timmi was in full form as always, blasting the HHC until people passed out from too much dancing. Lights, Cameras, action... this party had it all. AND it was in a goddamn PARKING GARAGE.
Justin and Nessa have brought life back into raves. People are there because they WANTED to be there. They're not venturing to a club to buy the service of dancing in said club. They're in a custy parking garage dancing their asses off because they wanted to.
We danced. We chilled. We grooved. We gathered for Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect. We had the times of our lives.
...and on the 8th day of the coldest month, Justin declared "Let there be rave!" And people came to the rave. And they saw it. And it was good.
