A Tribe Called Quest was absolute insanity.. completely surreal, and days better than i imagined.
taxed a ride to the credit with ry and mark mad early to get the shit started. met up with Jstar and hopped a train downtown, and over to the KH. tickets were selling for $250 each at that point.
the lineup wasn't even worth standing in yet so we wasted time having drinks. made our way back a half hour before the doors opened, and it still wasn't too bad. ten minutes later the lineup was wrapped mad far around the building. we made it inside just in time to hold down spots RIGHT in front of the stage. hell yes ya'll.
opening acts were decent. i personally was feelin the percussions, more than the other 2 (some DJ, and rhymefest). percussions' style, and flow is reminiscent of the kind of groups i'm into these days. it was hype. KARDI even hit the stage at one point, long enough to throw some of his signature lines out.
quest absolutely killed the night. Qtip sporting a bowtie and vest, looked sexy as hell while rhyming, and dancing RIGHT in front of us.. unhhh. -heaven. i still can't even really wrap my head around it happening. they dropped all the jams i wanted to hear, even vivrant thing. WE CAN GET DOWN, phony rappers, oh my god, buggin out, check the rhime, electric relaxation, bonita, can i kick it, stir it up: Tribe Called Quest represent, represent
they hit the stage back for a few encores, and the last track got teased three times before it finally dropped. -AWARD TOUR?? man, for real .. i fucking lost it. i never let a statue tell me how nice i am
yeah it was packed, yeah it was hot but how can people expect any different at a SOLD OUT concert. we met some chill ppl in the crowd that held down our space properly. i danced more than i have in a long ass time. no, no.. i was "vibin out" haha... awesome. the crowd singing along to every song was key. so many crazy moments, and memories that will probably never be topped.
